Chapter 888 "Hmm?" I narrowed my eyes at him. "We need you to be focused and alert. We don't know what kind of trouble we are going to have this morning, and having your mind not fully in this would be dangerous for you and your teammates. Can we count on you, or do you need to tag out?" Erik kept his gaze locked on mine, and then I could see his resolve cracking. "I'm worried that this won't work," he admitted. "That we'll get Chuck and bring him back to the Silver Crescent pack... and then we won't be able to break the curse." "I know you're scared, Erik.
But you must know that I'm not going to stop until Irene is okay," I told him. "We aren't going to stop trying, and you will someday have your mate." He was quiet for a moment, but I knew there was something more he wanted to say. "What if she doesn't want me even after the curse is broken?" He asked, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I've been giving her space because I know I freaked her out, and she wants nothing to do with me.
But what if she still wants nothing to do with me even after she's free from Chuck's curse..." Now I understood the real problem he was having; he was afraid that Irene would still reject him. "That's a bridge we cross when we get there, but it's important that we break this curse before we think about anything else. The curse is hurting her." I told him. "I need you to be focused, Erik. Can you do that?" "Yes," he said with a nod. "I can be focused." Gavin then tugged my chair closer to his and motioned with his head towards the tray of food he got. "Eat," he ordered. I smiled.

"Yes, Sir." Once we were done with breakfast, we met with Alpha Jeremy one last time. Some of the gammas had already brought our things back to the plane because we weren't planning to stay here much longer. Alpha Jeremy gave us the coordinates of where Chuck was going to be, and we didn't waste any time getting there. The warriors patroling the area were als alerted about Gavin's suddenvisit, so they didn't interfere as we made our way towards Chuck's post. Chuck's eyes narrowed when he spotted us. "What are you doing here?" He asked, his brows pinched together.
"We are here to bring you back to our territory," Gavin informed him. "We'll give you a chance to come with us willingly." "And why would I do that?" "Because you put a curse on my daughter and we are going to break that curse as soon as possible," Gavin said, narrowing his eyes, his gaze turning deadly. "We can either do this the easy way or the hard way... your choice." Chuck let out a laugh. "There's no curse on Irene," he said, shaking his head. "I love her and she loves me, I'm going to ask her to marry me and everything. She's my fated mate.
There's no way I'm geing tou do whatever it is you think I've done." His smirk showed me that he was playing a game, and the way his eyes sparkled told me that he knew exactly what he had done. He was getting a rise out of this, and I found my anger flaring. "You say she's your fated mate, but then why are you sleeping with another woman?" I asked before I could think better of it. His eyes turned into slits as he glared at me. "It was just a misunderstanding that we cleared up the other day.
She knows how I feel about her, and she's prepared to run away with me if thats what it takes," Chuck boasted a smug smile on his lips, he was acting as if he had already won. It infuriated me. "What are you even after, Chuck?" I asked, seething. "Why did you target Irene for your little games?" The corner of Chuck's lips tipped upward as he leaned forward, his eyes never leaving mine as he said in a low whisper, "Because she's easy." I barely even saw Erik coming before he was in front of me, punching Chuck in the face.
I let out a horrified gasp as I staggered backwards and into Gavin's open arms as he wrapped them around me protectively. Then there was Chuck, who fell to the ground with blood pouring out of his broken nose.
