Chapter 867 Judy's POV "Straight to the point, I see... that's what I always liked about you, Miss Montague," Levi laughed. My gut twisted, but I kept my expression neutral. "I'm not here for small talk," I tell him. "I'm here to find out about Meg Churchill. I know she's still alive, but she's been deemed missing. I also know that you've visited her at the hospital before." His smile slowly faded. That alone told me I was right. Levi leaned back in his chair, the chains on his wrists clinking softly against the metal table.
He studied me the way someone studies a chessboard, deciding which piece to sacrifice. "You're much sharper than I remembered," he murmured. "Don't change the subject," I said through my teeth; I didn't particularly like talking to the man who had used and betrayed me and I wanted this conversation to be over sooner than later. "Alright, fine," Levi said, rolling his eyes. "You are no fun. Yes, I went to see Meg at the hospital a few times for different reasons. Periodically, I have to sign a consent form to keep her on life support.
Without my updated signature, they'd pull the plug." "Meg is on life support?" I asked, disbelief in my tone. "What happened to her?" "She's been on the run for a long time, and just when she was about to be caught... she got into a car accident. Almost killed herself, but my family had managed to put her on life support to preserve her body." ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ FindNovel.net My heart sank in my chest; she was in an accident? Was it right before she gave away Lila?
"Why would you keep her there for all these years and not tell anyone?" I asked, "Were you hiding her?" "She was a disgrace to our family," Levi said, rolling his eyes. "She could never just follow the rules and play her part. She's made plenty of enemies... those who want her gone." "Then why keep her alive for all these years? Why not just pull the plug and let her die if she was such a disgrace?" I asked, shaking my head as this information sank in. It didn't make any sense for them to keep her alive if they hated her so much. They clearly didn't want Meg in their lives.

"Because of the curse," Levi muttered. "If it weren't for the curse, she would have been dead a long time ago." "What curse?" "You ask a lot of questions, but I think it's time for you to do something for me if you want me to talk more about this," Levi said, a smirk appearing on his lips. I pressed my lips into a thin line and narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm not doing anything for you," I told him, finality in my tone. He let out a laugh. "Then I guess we are done here." "You aren't going to tell me about this curse?" I asked.
"Not unless you do something in return," he said, cocking his head to the side. "What do you want?" I couldn't hide th the bitterness in my tone. I noticed the glint of amusement in his eyes, and I knew that he was enjoying this little back and forth. I folded my arms across my chest, not in the mood for his. _games almost called Gavin back in this room so he could make Levi talk, but I wasn't sure if I trusted Levi to tell the truth in that case. Despite him being a terrible guy, he was still fairly honorable, and when he said he was going to do something, he usually did it...
like telling the truth. If you made a deal with Levi Churchill, he will always hold up his end of the deal, no matter what. "I want you to break the curse," he said, narrowing his eyes. I frowned. "You want me to break a curse that I don't even know about?" I asked, raising my brows. He rolled his eyes. "Don't be daft," he muttered. "I will tell you about the curse... but in exchange... I need you to break it." "You'll have to give me some time to figure out how to break it," I told him.
"I'm not even sure how to use these magic powers." I stared down at my hands and all frowned; I wiggled my fingers like I expected them to do something. I still felt that buzzing sensation at the tip of my fingers, so I knew the magic was there, not to mention my senses had been heightened, and even my wolf is feeling a bit stronger. I just wasn't sure how to use or control this magic. "I'm sure you'll figure it out. I need your word that you'll try whatever you can to break this curse," he said, his eyes meeting and holding mine.
"I need to be able to trust you with this." I stared at him for a moment longer before I nodded my head. "You have my word," I told him. I wasn't sure how he knew I was serious and wouldn't back out, but the look of satisfaction crossed his face, and he nodded. "Okay then," he said, letting out a breath. "This curse had been placed on my family a long time ago. When Megan and her mother came into our family, it was around the time we were having issues with the Blackwell family. It was right before they built their own empire and left the Alpha territory.
They didn't want to abide by specific rules, and having two powerful Alpha Lycans in one territory is never goofidea. Even if one of them didn't want anything to do with pack politics, he had an option to be a chairman and take his own territory because he was that powerful, but he declined it."
