---- Chapter 261 "What the fuck?" he hissed under his breath. For what it was worth, Evelyn hadn't removed her mask for him. Nonetheless, it stung to think she almost had. Alexander did not like the way this guy was looking at Evelyn. He seriously couldn't tell if the man was flirting with Evelyn or if he was just being kind. Either way, he was not pleased by the sight. The fact that some stranger had the ability to make his own Luna smile while he was being actively ignored was not rubbing him the right way.

He slowly made his way closer and watched as the two of them stood up from the table. "Your Alpha is a very lucky man. | hope he knows that," the doctor said. "He does," Alexander stated firmly. Oh, boy. Yeah, things were not getting better in his mind the longer this scene was playing out in front of him. He noticed Evelyn's body tense before turning to stare at him with wide eyes. The Alpha narrowed his gaze on her before flickering over to the other man. He reached out his hand to formally introduce himself.

---- "Alexander Kingston, and you are..." A look of disbelief crossed the doctor's face. "I, uh...Henry Cawfield. I'm Edward's physician. I'm sorry, you said that you're Alexander Kingston?" His eyes trailed down Alexander's body, clearly baffled by the fact that he was standing on two legs and not sitting in his infamous wheelchair. "It's true, Henry," Evelyn spoke out. "Thank you again for coming to speak with me." "Of course, as always, I'll keep you posted on Edward's progress. Please let me know how that serum works for you once it's completed," he said with an attractive smile. Serum?

What serum? Alexander hated him. He fought back a sneer like his life depended on it. He waited until Henry had left before speaking. "Come back to the office with me. Oliver has brought in the results and you should catch up on what's been going on," he told her evenly. Thankfully, his nerves were given a reprieve when Evelyn nodded and began walking ahead of him. ---- Evelyn had read through the test result easily enough.

However beyond that point, she remained silent while Oliver and Alexander brought her up to speed on the growing case they were trying to build against Fiona, Isabella, and Samantha. Both men were somewhat hoping that she would chime in and offer her ideas, yet she remained quiet. With a silent look, Oliver knew to get up from his chair and leave the two alone. Evelyn kept her eyes locked on the carpet. Why was she acting this way around him when he was her husband? "Evelyn, we need to talk." Her tone was empty. "You're right. We do," she agreed.

"Something went on between you and Liam, didn't it?" he questioned. Evelyn's expression shifted only slightly. She let out a long, deflated breath and nodded "Yes. Before we were married, Liam and | were together. At the time, | held a great deal of care and devotion toward him but was quick to realize that he didn't feel the same way toward me at all. In fact, he used me to better his own pack and when the time came when | thought he would propose, he left me for ---- Samantha." Alexander's expression twisted in anger. "That son of a bitch," he grumbled. She merely shrugged.

"I'd say he got what he deserved in the end. Liam means nothing to me now." Of course, it upset him to know that once more Evelyn had been screwed over by the people that were supposed to care for her. By that point, his feelings of uneasiness should have run their course. But no. There was still a burning pettiness that kept gnawing at him. "So, can the same be said about this so-called doctor?"
