---- Chapter 206 [Evelyn's POV] A few days had passed since the trial and things weren't exactly settling back to normal. Once the formal statements had been released from both the King and Alexander, every news outlet in the region was dying to get a personal interview out of either 'one of them. Alexander made it a firm point to refuse every news company that was even willing to give him official air time on their specific news station as opposed to a regular article. The answer was still 'no'. There had reached a point where | even sat down with him and asked him to explain his reasoning.

"| mean, would really one interview hurt?" | asked. "| understand you want to move on from this but this was a huge shock, Alexander. It's not every day that someone literally takes their own family member to court and has them sent to prison." Alexander leaned back in his chair and pinched the bridge of his nose. "| understand that. Really, | do. However, this trial was not about gaining attention from the general public," Alexander said.

"Yes, ---- | know that everyone wants more details; but, the whole point was to ensure that Michael was properly dealt with and no longer posed as a threat. Nothing more." He had a point. | could understand the situation of just wanting to move forward. As time ticked on, | wondered if this whole thing upset Alexander in the back of his mind. In other words, was there any ounce of him that was upset for Michael? Knowing that there had been countless times in which Alexander had tried to help his brother, made it perfectly clear that he'd always supported him to a certain degree.

There again, perhaps, that feeling had died when he'd uncovered the truth behind the car accident. | knew that there were no regrets within Alexander pertaining to that court case. He was right. Michael's sentencing to prison was a safety precaution and it needed to happen. And now he was looking to move on. His formal statement to the press had intricately highlighted the major events during his investigation. He was generous enough to even admit some of his own feelings, as well.

He stressed the idea that Michael hadn't been well, mentally speaking, for quite some time and that it was imperative that he seek professional help while in confinement. ---- Simple and straight to the point. | never had any doubt that Alexander would have taken advantage of the opportunity to tear up Michael's image any further. He stuck to the facts and let it go. The Alpha King, on the other hand, had an entirely different outlook on the matter. His formal statement reflected nothing like how he was during the actual trial. In person, he'd been nothing short of smug and arrogant.

If the man could have openly laughed at Alexander every time he'd spoken, he would have. Purely out of disrespect. However, his statement was practically complementary to Alexander's. He claimed that he too had his speculations about Michael's mentality not being one hundred-percent well. I'd lost count of the number of times | rolled my eyes at his ridiculous remarks. "This man could not be any more two-faced if he tried," | muttered to myself. Alexander snorted under his breath. Oliver shook his head and let out a deep exhale.

"That's just him playing the part of the concerned King, looking out for his people," he explained. ---- "So, it's all just an act then," | commented. "Pretty much," Alexander said. "The man will lie straight through his teeth if it means trying to stay in the proper limelight with the general public." | shook my head in disbelief. "Jesus Christ. That's actually terrible." | knew very little about how the whole political game worked. A majority of my knowledge generally went as far as inner pack dynamics. However, when it came to anything more overarching than that, | was at a bit of a loss.
