---- Chapter 156 The house felt eerie and oddly empty but the pair was swiftly met with an uncomfortable-looking Isabella. The woman was pale and appeared guilty of some crime Alexander wasn't aware of. She tried to put on a semblance of a respectful smile, giving a curt nod of her head in acknowledgment "Alpha Alexander, how nice of you to-" "Where's Evelyn?" His tone did not warrant any repetition, yet she still tried to play ignorant. "I'm not sure | know what you mean?" "Enough!" he shouted with a sneer. "I know she's here and | also know that my bastard of a Stepbrother is here as well.
Where. Is. She?" The room fell silent. It was clear Isabella wasn't going to be of any help. Alexander narrowed his eyes and gripped the armrests of his wheelchair in anger. "If you won't tell me where she is, then | will find her myself," he said darkly. ---- Isabella, with all her audacity, cackled. "You won't be able to get very far in that," she said, gesturing to the wheelchair. A vicious grin spread across his face. Alexander looked her directly in the eyes and stood up from the wheelchair. All humor and malice slipped from Isabella's face.

Her sickly paleness returned and she swayed on her feet. "That's impossible..." she gasped. "Y-You...You're..." "Supposed to be paralyzed, yes," he growled. "Let's just say that my injuries were vastly overstated." Not wanting to waste another second of his time, Alexander moved right past her and began searching down each and every hall. He called out for Evelyn several times; his heart sinking further in his chest. "Get off of me!" a small voice whimpered. "Please, stop." Alexander felt his blood run cold.
He quickly followed after the meak voice and discovered a sight he never wished to find. Michael was towering over Evelyn with his hands clamped around her wrists, holding them above her head. Evelyn's face was red with tears streaming down her face. Her body was shaking uncontrollably while strained cries slipped from her lips. Her expression was filled with such pain and fear it made Alexander see red. ---- "Michael," he hollered out. Michael tore his eyes from Evelyn and glanced over his shoulder. His entire body went stiff and froze just as Isabella had. He was at a total loss for words.
"No..." "Get you're fucking hands off my wife before | snap your neck with my bare hands," he snarled. 1 Alexander snatched Michael by the collar of his shirt and hauled him away from Evelyn. He yanked him back at least several feet and watched him tumble to the floor with a disgruntled moan. Evelyn tucked her arms close to her chest and buried her face in her hands. Michael let out a series of annoying words, all pertaining to the facade he's been parading around to everyone. Alexander said nothing as he approached his Stepbrother.
He curled his hand into a tight fist and punched the very air from the guy's lungs. Michael's face was beyond battered and bruised. His knuckles were soon covered in red streaks of blood, but it wasn't enough to make him stop. It was only until Oliver stepped in that he pulled back to the present. "Alexander, you need to get Evelyn." ---- His body moved on auto-pilot. Alexander went over to where Evelyn was still curled up on the floor and tried to carefully pull her out of her own mental stupor. "Evelyn," he said softly.
Her eyes peered open while a look of stifling shock turned over her face. "You...You can walk?" Something was horribly wrong with her. Her body was tensing and releasing like a coiled spring-a spring that was about to snap. Her words slurred. "Alexander..." He watched her eyes roll to the back of her head and went out like a light.
