12. TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER:

NARRATOR

"aztoria, you have to find the Breath of Life! It always grows near

the Cassiopelas!""

Lyra shouted at her she-wolf, clutching her dress as she ran

through vines and roots

'The trees shook around her, sweat soaked her skin, and small

animals scattered in fear, fleeing the giant chasing behind.

She jumped over a fallen log, dodged a branch, crouched and

climbed, all while being hunted by the shadow of the fierce warrior.

"There!

Over there!" the Alpha sniffed with the wind in her favor.

She caught the spicy, suffocating scent of the Cassiopelas... but also

the treasure those dangerous plants guarded

"Lyra, don't go that way, there's poison, those plants are

poisonous!" Drakkar shouted at her.

He had no idea what she was trying to do, but those red flowers

were a deadly weapon.

"| know what I'm doing, follow me this way!" Lyra darted between

thick, tight trees that managed to slow down the Brontocérax for

at least a few seconds.

She crouched, frantically searching through the grass, pushing

leaves aside and sniffing for the foul stench of the Breath of Life

plant.

----

"What are you doing?!

Lyra, stop it, we need to get out of here!"

"Here it is!" Lyra spotted the green and purple leaves camouflaged

among the rest of the weeds, so small and ugly-looking that no

one would guess the importance of that plant.

"Eat it!"

"That herb could be poisonous, it stinks, don't eat it!"

"Just eat the damn thing already!" all the glamour dropped to her

feet as she shoved the leaf into her mouth and stuffed it into her

mate's mouth with a scowl.

"Don't you dare spit it out, Drakkar, chew and swallow!" She

lunged forward to shut his mouth with her hands when the warrior

grimaced from the bitter taste.

"Trust me, trust me!" Their eyes locked in the middle of the chaos,

and Drakkar -who didn't even trust his own shadow-ended up

swallowing what the little female gave him.

Whether it was poison or salvation, he bet everything on her.

Lyra sighed in relief, but their peace didn't last. The predator

rammed through the tree barrier.

Hearing the crackling wood, they had to run again to avoid being

crushed.

"Let's lure him to that field of red flowers!"

"They're poisonous!" Drakkar couldn't understand what part of "

highly poisonous" she didn't get.

----

"You took the antidote! Come on, come on, let's take him there!"

Drakkar was at the edge of collapsing. What the hell was an

antidote?!

The Brontocérax, furious after being outsmarted so many times by

these tiny insects, abandoned its protective instincts and charged

straight into the massive field of red flowers like it was ablaze.

Golden spores quickly filled the air-a natural defense after being

brutally trampled.

"This way, hey, hey!" Lyra yelled, drawing its attention to one side.

"THIS WAY, BEAST, COME TO ME!"

With makeshift spears made from sharp branches, they pushed it

back and forth, leading it into the trap.

Under the setting sun, with the beast roaring to the sky and the

beautiful, deadly flowers flying through the air, even the bravest

warrior's heart would tremble.

Drakkar soon realized the magic-he didn't feel his skin burning

like it was being peeled off, or his lungs ready to collapse.

He had seen warriors die, covered in pustules and rashes,

suffocating just by inhaling a little of those flowers.

Now they were taunting that fierce creature, and it was losing

steam fast.

Its movements were uncoordinated, dizzy, unable to

spot its prey right in front of it, panting and ready to drop.

Drakkar ran to a tree, climbed it, and got onto a high branch.
