---- 317. JUMPING INTO THE FIRE FOR YOU ABIGAIL "Damn rebels!" | started to lunge at the closest of the ten who appeared, but something stopped me cold. "Aaggr!" | roared as | fell on my back, like my nose had slammed into an invisible shield. They had trapped me and, worse, the spell they cast was hitting me hard. The flames inside me rebelled stronger than ever; something was forcing them out of my body... something that coveted them. A black mist rose from the ground and took the shape of shadowy flowers... | knew that curse called Flame-Devouring Flowers. This looks terrible.
"Cowards, using such a filthy spell to drain my power!" I shouted, trying in vain to resist, but the burning on my skin was becoming unbearable. "They forced our hand; we will never be controlled by brainless ---- beasts." | lifted my head to see a woman beyond the haze, had to be the little boss. | wanted to answer, but a roar came out of my mouth instead, and | dropped to my knees, hugging myself. "Abigail, you have to get a grip, resist, | don't have the strength to hold her!" Bryda jolted awake at the danger, but | was going up in flames.
There was no controlling myself while that forbidden flower spell was leeching my magic like a parasite. And it wasn't even the original, just a cheap knockoff. Vincent, Alpha King Cedrick's Beta, was the one who had managed to tame the true devouring flower, but still, with me as unstable as | was, the trap was working. "Aaahh!" | screamed, feeling like | could only see red. My entire body dropped to all fours, exploding into a supernova of destructive magic. | was losing my connection to Bryda, to everything; | could only think about killing, razing, consuming.
---- Those sorcerers played with fire and ended up getting burned. Soon | heard the screams; the stench of blood and charred flesh swept the forest... "She" was taking control of my body and... was slowly burning up too. "Abigail..." my wolf Bryda called me from far away, but she was surrounded by despair. Sitting with her hands over her ears and screaming in pain... so much pain and tears. | would end up like many Centurias, destroyed by my own unstable magic. "I'm sorry, Dad, Mom... Hannah..." Before | lost their names, | whispered them in my soul, which was shattering.

Suddenly, his image appeared through the blur of tears... Fenrir... I never really stood a chance. Truth is, | liked that male so much... I called him so hard in my last seconds that | thought | heard his voice, or at least a voice like his, only more... bestial "DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON ME, ABIGAIL!" The roar tore through the haze, and | looked up to see a gorgeous wolf with a reddish coat break through the curtain of ---- fire. It was his animal spirit, | knew it the instant | saw him; he was running toward me, staring at me with those untamed ruby eyes.
How could he be inside my consciousness? Then | felt the growl at my back, the danger... "Get out, you shouldn't be here, she can hurt you!" | yelled, trying to drive him away, but he didn't stop Too late. A burning shadow leaped at me and charged the intruder. It was my Centuria she-wolf; she wouldn't be tamed so easily. If that male didn't prove he was stronger, if he didn't dominate her with a firm hand... she would finish him. "| AM YOUR MATE, OBEY ALREADY, DAMN IT!" The massive wolf went straight to grapple with her. "No!" | cried, reaching out in that world full of destruction and ash.
Only winter magic could contain her... or so we believed. But | forgot there were other realms, other powers, that the Selenias existed. ---- When the two energies slammed head-on, Fenrir's wolf was covered in a black-and-gold mantle that quickly merged with the red and orange. Their forms intertwined, pure magics fighting for supremacy. You could see fangs and claws inside the multicolored light. Suddenly, a golden burst blinded me and made me squeeze my eyes shut for a second When | opened them, | was shocked by the scene unfolding in front of me.
Fenrir's wolf had my Centuria Beta pinned beneath him, claws at her neck, while she still bared her teeth at him. He lowered his muzzle, all dominance; she braced to strike, but | felt her bewilderment when their noses brushed in a gentle nuzzle. "| don't want to hurt you, little wolf; you're part of my mate and | accept her completely." That bestial voice told her slowly. "Submit to me, little one...
make a pact with me and become Abigail's protector." ---- A knot tightened in my throat when | saw my wolf go calm, even submissive, and the violence faded | touched my chest; | had never felt this sensation of... control | always felt in danger, suffocated, afraid of exploding from my own power. Through the smoke and my tears, | watched them nuzzle. Those ruby eyes fixed on me as my consciousness began to haze over. "You are my mate, Abigail; I'm going to win you both over, my female... | will never let you go. My name is Gale and |...
am your male." His voice came in a dominant whisper that made me tremble as. | felt the gusts of his incredible power. Amid golden flashes, | finally took control of my mind and body. Arms wrapped around me; | was being held against a strong chest. Seated on solid thighs. Despair turned into relief. "Fenrir..." | said his name and clung to him as | cried, full of ---- emotions. "Easy, little one, you're safe now, baby... I'll never let anyone hurt you, not even you yourself..." His words soothed the sobbing fit that had broken my strength. His scent comforted me.
Hidden in his arms | felt so protected, so loved... but then | remembered this was all an illusion, an impossibility... | pulled away slowly, wiping my tears and feeling the changes inside me Ravena, my fire wolf, was calm, willing to cooperate for the first time, and Bryda, my spirit animal, was finally safe and resting from her constant battle. "I'm... I'm better, thanks to you, and... Oh, Goddess... what did | do!" My hands flew to my mouth when, as I drew back, | could finally see him clearly, and all the pandemonium | had unleashed around me.
