---- "My name is Dalila. Pleased to meet you... Lycan prince..." "You know me?" Fenrir frowned as they reached the edge of this island and the bank of a dark lagoon. "Who doesn't know the idiot who drank a truth potion and started spouting pure nonsense?" Her answer left him speechless. So everyone really knew about his blunder?! Who was the snitch who ratted him out? It had to be that savage of a father-in-law, laughing at him behind his back! "Go that way," Dalila suddenly pointed across the swampy water. "No, I'm not wading in blind, at night, without knowing what I'm going to ru- Ouch!
Hey, watch your hand, ma'am!" He howled when the cane tapped his head in a scolding, " affectionate" smack. "You really are dumb! Why would you think I'd put myself in danger? Go that way. There's a rise of earth, a secret path that cuts across the lagoon," she answered, exasperated. The youth these days was getting slower by the minute. ---- "Go on already, let's go, I'm not getting any prettier standing here! Fenrir realized how sweet his grandma Gabrielle had been with him. This old woman was a Centuria harpy, bossy and heavy-handed!

Even so, unbelievably, his boots kept a steady pace and she kept her word, showing him the secret route From a distance, the scene made it look like he was walking on water when, in reality, it was a muddy strip of land linking the islands. He reached safety near the goal; he could already hear voices beyond the thick, oppressive trees. Torchlight flickered, chatter carried over- and worst of all, the quick footsteps of the two competitors who'd gotten ahead of him. With his old lady on his back, Fenrir ran like never before.
"Hold on tight, even if that killer cane chokes me!" he roared, his legs exploding into a final sprint. When one of the wolves saw a massive redhead blow past like a gale with "that" old woman on top... he turned pale. ---- What the hell was the Centuria Priestess doing with him?! "You left me in danger in that cave, just wait till | catch youuu!" she yelled as they sped by, clinging to Fenrir. The wolf regretted everything on the spot, fear squeezing his heart. He hadn't recognized her voice- if he had, he would've fought an army of Drakmor, because having her as an enemy was suicide!
Too late now, he and his buddy Dago already had targets on their backs. And speaking of Dago, Fenrir's pupils narrowed on the male who'd reached the final trial. Ina clearing full of torches stood Hakon, and on a rough wooden platform, the prizes. Looked like they'd come straight in on a barge or something. Fenrir locked eyes with his mate's eager gaze from afar. His soul flipped, and in silence he told her he'd fight to get a few hours alone with her. "Put me down and go, go, run and clear the final test!" Once ---- again, Dalila's order snapped him to.
He stopped for just a second and crouched to set her down gently. The female actually hopped to the ground with agility; for a moment, she didn't look like a frail little granny at all. Fenrir suspected she'd been pulling his leg. "Silly boy... follow your instinct and don't mess up again," she said, pointing a finger before letting him go. Her eyes, blazing with the fire of a Centuria Priestess, watched him tear off toward where Hakon was waiting. She liked this boy, despite the dumb things he'd done to Abigail. Dalila was glad Raven had looped her into this setup.
She was the oldest woman of the Centuria Clan, brimming with power and energy despite her millennial age, but today it had been great fun to play the feeble, decrepit granny. Dalila was having a blast, and now... the best part was coming.
