---- 334, INNOCENT DECEPTION NARRATOR "Over there!" The lady guided him, pressing one side or the other with her cane. "Ma'am, I'm not your pack mule!" Fenrir roared in his head, but he didn't dare challenge her, not when she was steering them away from that vengeful creature. At times, the mountain shook so much Fenrir thought a cave-in was coming and they'd be trapped. A huge redhead was sprinting through the dark with a little old woman clinging to his back; it looked unreal, even a little comical. But the things that happened to Fenrir were enough to make your guts bust with laughter.
He didn't know how far he'd run until he saw moonlight at the end of a tunnel that opened into a dense forest. Gasping for fresh air and sweating like a pig fleeing the butcher, he bent to get the "weight" off his back. The lady's legs touched the damp grass strewn with fallen leaves. ---- "Hey, you're not careful at all, | almost lost my hair on those low ceilings!" she scolded, pointing at him with her cane and that judging stare. Fenrir couldn't believe all the scratches he'd taken to shield her from the jagged rock.
"| should've left you for the beast to eat, you bossy old hag!" he yelled in his mind. "I'm sorry, ma'am, for not being your perfect servant. | was a little .. rushed... and still am," he answered, trying to get his bearings. "Don't you answer me with that attitude, young man!" Fenrir felt danger closing in as the cane whistled through the air. He sprang back, narrowly avoiding the hit. "Come on, | saved you! Can't you just say thank you?" Despite his respect for elders, he lost his temper. At this rate he'd finish last! Someone would pick Abigail before he did!

The lady gave him another up-and-down look. He felt judged every second by her. Did she know him from somewhere? ---- "I can thank you in a better way," she finally huffed. "I'll show you a secret path in the swamp that'll take you wherever you want to go." "Seriously?!" Fenrir forgot the slight immediately. "Tell me- | want to get to what they call the Isle of Mist!" "Deal, let's go... but you're carrying me again, I'm already tired." With all the nerve in the world, she smoothed her dress like a princess, ready to be chauffeured by her new transport.
Fenrir almost twisted his mouth, but for the sake of the competition, he decided to carry her again So he found himself plunging into those hot forests, with a red flame floating in the air, lighting the way and scaring off the smaller animals. Centuria magic. "My name's Fenrir," he introduced himself, killing time with small talk. "What were you doing in that cave?" "I fell in while looking for some rare medicinal herbs; then that predator found me and tried to eat me.
| called for help, but only one brave soul came to rescue me." Fenrir puffed out his chest- at least one compliment from her... for a change.
