Chapter 605 Morning at the Miller household always began quietly, yet with a sense of warmth. Just like any other morning. The sun had barely risen when the staff began preparing breakfast in the main dining room. The aroma of toasted bread and warm soup slowly filled the space, mingling with the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee. Eli was already seated at the table when Nathan walked in from the corridor. She looked neat this morning. Her long hair was tied back simply, and she wore a light cream sweater paired with a dark skirt.
Her eyes were no longer swollen like the day before, though traces of fatigue still lingered. "Good morning, GrandDad," Eli greeted politely as Nathan approached. Nathan gave a small nod. "Morning, Eli." He pulled out a chair at the end of the table and sat down casually. His eyes lingered on the girl for a few seconds, quietly assessing whether she truly seemed better. "Did you sleep well?" Eli nodded slightly. "Yes. Much better than yesterday." Nathan smiled faintly at that.
"That's good to hear." A moment later, Riana entered the kitchen with Grace trailing behind her, still rubbing her eyes. "Why is everyone already awoken?" Grace complained through a half-yawn. Riana chuckled softly. "Because it's morning, dear." Grace dropped into the chair beside Eli. Without saying much, she rested her head briefly against the girl's shoulder. "You're not sick, are you?" she whispered. Eli gave a small smile. "No." She gently patted the top of Grace's head. "Did you stay up too late? Is that why you're still this sleepy?" "No," Grace protested.

"I just miss Mommy." Eli exhaled softly. "Then you should've called me. I would've stayed with you until you fell asleep." "Next time," Grace said, looking at Eli intently. "When Mommy and Daddy don't come home, you'll stay with me until I fall asleep, okay?" She held out her pinky finger. "Promise?" 1/3 Chapter 605 +25 Bonus "Promise," Eli replied firmly, hooking her pinky with Grace's. Josh appeared a few seconds later, carrying a thick notebook in his hand. He stopped the moment he saw Eli, his face lighting up with relief. "Good, you're awake," he said.
"I already prepared the questions I want to ask." Grace snorted. "Josh, you're still thinking about physics-even during breakfast." "That's because I don't want to look stupid in class later." Nathan chuckled quietly at their exchange. "You really don't want to lose your reputation at school, do you?" "Oh, GrandDad! It's not like that," Josh protested. "I don't mind getting average grades if I understand the material. But physics? My scores are terrible, and I don't understand any of them.
I don't want to show everyone how clueless I am." Nathan broke into a wide smile and raised both thumbs toward his beloved grandson. "Now that's the spirit. You should learn from someone who knows what they're doing. Or should I call a private tutor for you?" Josh shook his head immediately. "I just need Eli to explain a few parts. I can study the rest on my own." "Alright," Nathan said. "If you need anything, just tell me. I'll help." "GrandDad, how come no one offered me a tutor for painting class? I want to improve too," Grace protested, earning a burst of hearty laughter from Nathan.
"You're serious?" Grace stared at him for a moment. "Um... not really. I'll just learn it at school with Miss Spencer first." "A wise choice, Grace," Riana said warmly. Meanwhile, the staff began setting breakfast on the table. A bowl of warm chicken soup was placed at the center, followed by toasted bread, omelets, and plates of freshly cut fruit. Eli picked up the glass of water in front of her. There was still something unfamiliar about sitting at this dining table. But this morning felt different from yesterday. The urge to run away was gone.
Instead, she felt incredibly fortunate that she had been allowed to stay-that she could still sit here and feel a warmth that reached deep into her heart. To be among them... even to be part of this warmth. And because of that, a quiet resolve began to grow inside her. She wanted to stay. She wanted to try. "Eli," Riana called gently. The girl looked up right away. 2/3 Chapter 605 +25 Bonus "How are you feeling this morning?" Eli thought for a moment before answering. "Much better, GrandMom." Riana nodded softly. "That's what matters most." They began eating together.
The conversation around the table remained light-Grace talking about a school assignment while Josh continued complaining about a physics formula, he found impossibly complicated. Eli joined the conversation from time to time, and the atmosphere grew even warmer. But just as they were nearly finished eating, one of the staff entered with an announcement. "Mrs. Althea has returned." P ENJOYING THE BOOK? Give it a rating to show your support! +2 Comments Support Share 3/3 admin
