Chapter 7 Fists of Fury "By the way, Mr. Bode asked me to give you this-your work badge." Mary handed over the badge with a cheerful smile. Sherry stared at the work badge, confused. A work badge? +5 Free Coins Mary continued, "He said if you won't work at the Bode Group, you won't find work anywhere else. He really cares about you!" Sherry's face tightened. Cares about me? Mary didn't understand how these wealthy games worked. To Sherry, this wasn't care-it was a direct threat. If she refused the Bode Group, she had no other options.
With almost no work experience, finding another path seemed impossible. Her own family would only kick her when she was down. A bitter laugh escaped Sherry's lips. So this was where she'd ended up-with nothing. This was what she got for being too good to a man. Furious at being cornered, Sherry grabbed a taxi and headed straight for the Bode Group's main competitor. All these years, she had swallowed her pride. When Claire made her suffer, she still had to apologize. When Teresa stole her family's affection, Sherry still had to say sorry when Teresa cried.
Now when it came to Gilbert and Wendy, was she supposed to stay quiet and take it again? Rage burned in her chest. Maybe she'd spent too long being obedient, bending over backward for everyone. She couldn't do it anymore. From now on, if her life wasn't going smoothly, nobody else's would be easy either. She didn't go to Gilbert's company. Instead, she went directly to his rival's company. The moment she stepped inside, she spotted a familiar figure. It was Wendy. What was she doing here?
9 1/4 m ||| O < 16:34 Fri, Jan 9 M Chapter 7 Fists of Fury G) 5 Free Coins "George, thank you so much for your help!" Wendy smiled sweetly, her voice dripping with charm as she showed her little fang. She looked every bit the adorable little sister. "Oh, there's something I should warn you about. "It's about Sherry." George Latham seemed to recall the name. "The one Gilbert keeps hidden at home because he's ashamed to be seen with her?" Gilbert never brought Sherry to social events. She wasn't sophisticated enough and couldn't bring any benefits to the Bode family.
Everything had to serve the company's interests first. Sherry had always put the company above herself. Publicly claiming her as Gilbert's wife wasn't as useful as bringing in real profits. But in other people's mouths, this became "too ashamed to be seen with her." "Exactly. You know the type-a homebody with no real skills. When she saw how well Gilbert treats me, she went crazy. Lately she's even been trying to get a job outside! "Gilbert was worried she'd embarrass herself at other companies, so he made sure all her applications got rejected." Hearing this, Sherry went pale.

So the reason she couldn't find work elsewhere was that he thought she would humiliate herself. That feeling-being judged as useless and shameful by someone she once trusted-washed over her like ice water. "I'm worried she might snap and show up at your company. She might wave around her 'divorce from Gilbert' and try to make a scene. She can't let him go, so if she conies here, it's definitely not with good intentions!" George's smile disappeared, replaced by a cold smirk. "If she tries, she's finished." Those simple words, heavy with threat.
If Wendy hadn't said anything, George might have let Sherry in. He loved seeing Gilbert in trouble-any kind of trouble, le wanted everyone around Gilbert to abandon him. But he wasn't going to be part of their little drama. What did they think his company was? "Thank you so much, George. Wendy loves you!" 2/4 16:34 Fri, Jan Chapter 7 Fists of Fury 60 +5 Free Coins George stared in horror as Wendy suddenly said so. Then he watched as a furious young woman grabbed Wendy by the hair and dragged her outside. "Sherry, what are you doing? If you hurt me, Gilbert will be angry!
Even if you're jealous, it won't help. I'm just too irresistible. Ahhh!" Dragged out of the building by her hair, Wendy faced Sherry's fists. Her smug expression turned to pure panic in seconds. By the time George recovered and ran after them, Wendy's face was already swollen. "Stop!" George tried to pull Sherry away. She fought like a wild animal. He couldn't stop her-and ended up with two black eyes for his trouble. When Gilbert arrived, the first thing he saw was George's bruised face. Wendy rushed toward Gilbert as if to bury herself in his arms.
He kept her at a distance-but when his eyes landed on her swollen face, his expression changed completely. "Who did this to you?" Anyone hearing that tone would be terrified. It meant someone wasn't leaving in one piece. "Me!" Sherry shouted, still burning with anger. "She was asking for it with that mouth of hers. She knew about my family situation and still reported me. Honestly, I went easy on her." Gilbert strode toward her, his presence overwhelming. "What proof do you have that Wendy did it?" "I don't need proof. I know it was her." Sherry stood her ground.
"If it were anyone else, you would have destroyed them already-unless it's someone you plan to protect." Gilbert took several deep breaths, then lifted her over his shoulder. "Put me down! I'm serious-she's crossed me too many times. Being with you, I never enjoyed any of the things I should have. She's never done anything for you, so why does she get what should have been mine?" Divorce? Fine. But why should she be the one to lose? She's given so much-she just can't feel balanced inside. "Because she's the one who deserves it most." Gilbert pushed her into the car, his voice like ice.
"Sherry, what makes you think you've given the most? Compared to others, what you've done barely counts." The words stunned Sherry into silence. Even as the car pulled away, she sat in shock. Barely counts? Five years. A girl becoming a woman. 3/4 16:34 Fri, Jan 9 M Chapter 7 Fists of Fury 60 +5 Free Coins Sherry looked down at her hands-covered in burns that never fully healed, her pinky finger bent from being hit by a casserole. Not a single society lady in Seaseat City had hands like these. And that was just the visible damage. What about the wounds no one could see?
And it all "barely counted"? Sherry started laughing-and then the tears came. Scott watched her laughing and crying, breaking into a cold sweat. Love is terrifying. How does it drive people so crazy? He did the sensible thing and took her home. Only after making sure she was safe did he leave. He wondered if Gilbert wasn't being too harsh? He'd worked here for two years. At first, he thought Wendy was the real wife. Later he learned it was Sherry. Being a rich man's wife wasn't something everyone could handle. No wonder they were talking about divorce.
When Gilbert called, Scott still felt uneasy. "Mr. Bode, wasn't what you said a little too much for Ms. Campbell to handle? She's usually so dignified..." The other woman came here every day. In Scott's eyes, Sherry had endured enough. The other wives might put up with it, but that kind of doting was done behind closed doors. Here, Gilbert spoiled Wendy right in front of Sherry. "She needs to learn her lesson. She did a little and thinks she can make everyone give in. Meanwhile, others have done ten times more.
She's had it too easy these past few years, and she has no idea what real sacrifice looks like." 4/4 Mark
