Chapter 13 A Life Debt Unpaid. +5 Free Coins Tyrone only worried about his friends. He didn't really care about other people. And Sherry was standing there, clearly okay. "Did you just come here to make fun of him?" Sherry looked at the hand still holding hers, even though Gilbert wasn't awake. She tried to pull away, but couldn't. This made her angry. She really disliked hassle. It was all or nothing-either they were together, or they both went their separate ways and left each other alone. Whatever small feeling remained-more like habit than love-disappeared after he hit her.

She didn't even want to see his face now. Even someone as simple as Tyrone felt cold when he saw the look in her eyes. She wouldn't actually divorce him, right? No way. He didn't believe it. How could a loyal simp suddenly change? Sherry finally fell asleep, tired and worn out. The next morning, as soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Gilbert awake, quietly eating oatmeal, trying not to wake her. She realized she had slept in his bed. This thought upset her. She moved to get up. Now even his bed felt wrong to her. Before she could stand, Gilbert grabbed her.

His long fingers held tight, like he still cared. But everything he did ended up hurting her. "Let go." "Sherry, I'm sorry. I didn't know things would turn out like this. I believed Jean because..." Gilbert suddenly didn't know where to begin. Talking about Jean would lead to other complicated things. Sherry covered her ears. "Stop. I don't believe anything you say. Not one word." The hurt showed in his eyes. "You don't trust me now." Sherry pulled her hand away. "Look what you did. How could I trust you? Trusting you is too dangerous. And you don't trust me either.

So what should I trust you with?" That one question left Gilbert speechless. 1/3 16:36 Fri, Jan 9 M Chapter 13 A Life Debt Unpaid Did he not trust Sherry? He did. Really. But he also trusted those other people. He had his reasons to trust them. Because of what happened before, he trusted Jean and Wendy more. He trusted Sherry as well, but... +5 Free Coins Scott rushed into the room, looking serious. "Bad news, Mr. Bode! Jean is at the hospital making a scene- she says she's going to jump off a building!" When Sherry walked outside, she could hear Jean's voice, loud and clear.

"I hope when I'm gone, the real villain gets what they deserve. "Sherry, you pushed me to this point!" Then she jumped. Sherry had just walked out below. Gilbert, right behind her, saw it happen. His heart stopped. He lunged and shoved Sherry out of the way. Jean landed right on top of him. Three floors weren't very high, but no one could stand a heavy object crashing down. Jean was mostly okay. But Gilbert slammed into the ground. Blood spread under his head like a dark red flower. This time, everyone-even Sherry-was terrified. They rushed Gilbert into emergency surgery.

The whole crowd was stunned. All the anger from before was gone in a second. Jean stood there, shocked. She wasn't hurt at all. "Jean, look what you've done! Are you crazy?" "If you want to die, go somewhere else! Don't take Mr. Bode with you!" a manager snapped. Gilbert was strict with his employees, sure. Always had a stone-cold face-downright scary sometimes. He was ruthless to his enemies. But as long as they were loyal, he always had their backs. No forced drinking, no shady deals, for men or women. Only Sherry stood there with a heavy feeling in her chest.

They dragged Jean off for a check-up too, but the crew cursed her out the whole way. 2/3 16:36 Fri, Jan 9 M 60 Chapter 13 A Life Debt Unpaid *5 Free Coins Jean was a wreck. "If anything happens to Mr. Bode, I won't live either. But this is all Sherry's fault! If he's hurt, I swear I'll make you pay!" The hate in her eyes was exactly how Sherry once felt about Gilbert. Sherry walked up and kicked, snapping Jean's leg. "I'll give that line back to you. You better stay alive." Why did Gilbert save her? Sherry honestly didn't get it. Why not just make a clean break? Why cause all this mess?

She hated owing people. Always had. The scales in her heart were tipping. This time, they tilted toward herself. Yes, Gilbert saved her. But she felt she had done everything she could for him. She couldn't just forgive him just because he'd saved her life. Tyrone had been watching. When he saw Sherry was about to leave, he couldn't believe it. "You're walking away? He got hurt twice because of you. How can you be so cold? Gilbert must be cursed to have ever met you!" 3/3 Mark
