Chapter 12 Margaret's POV I dropped the postcard I had written for Paige into the mailbox, turned around, and froze. A face I hadn't seen in years stood just a few feet away. George. His expression was calm, but his eyes churned with a storm so violent it almost spilled over. He looked so stunned he didn't even speak. He just stood there, rooted to the snow. He looked older. Thinner. Lines of exhaustion carved deep between his brows. I pretended not to see him and quietly walked around, ready to leave.

But as I passed by, his hand shot out, grasping my sleeve with the desperate, white-knuckled grip of a drowning man. "Margaret... Finally... finally found you." His voice broke at the end. I had never heard George's voice tremble before. Not once, not in all the years I knew him. For a moment, I went blank. But everything that once tore my world apart was long buried. My heart barely stirred now. I stepped back politely, wanting to remove his hold on me. He didn't let go. "Margaret, come home with me. Please. Finley's waiting for you too-he listens now.

He only recognizes you as his mother." "Everything Isla did to you, I know all of it now. She's been punished. There's nothing standing between us anymore." I blinked at the mention of those names, my mind briefly drifting, names I hadn't allowed myself to think about in years. "Margaret... it was my fault. All of it. Only after you left did I realize what I had lost. Let's go back and reaffirm our mate bond, okay? Let's go home. We'll never be separated again." George pulled me suddenly into his arms, holding me with a desperate strength, voice thick with pleading.

"I swear on my Alpha bloodline, my Luna is you, only you. Always you. Come home, Margaret." He was still speaking when someone yanked him away in one swift movement. My current mate, Alpha Callum Edward, had returned. He stepped in front of me, shielding me completely, glaring at George with fierce displeasure. Chapter 12 8.63% "Lower your gaze, Alpha," Callum said coldly, "show respect when addressing a Pack's Luna. And here, you have no right to lay hands on any she-wolf." Callum was usually gentle, refined, but when it came to me, his composure hardened into steel.

He was the Alpha of Finland's Marigold Pack, six-foot-four, broad-shouldered, quiet but intimidating when he chose to be. Two years ago in Iceland, when I suddenly collapsed, it was Callum who carried me to safety. George stared at him like he had heard the most absurd joke in existence. "What are you talking about? She's my Luna. She loves me. She would never marry you." He turned to me, urgently, almost frantically, "Margaret, please don't feel angry at me. Stop joking like this.

I know I was wrong-Finley knows he was wrong too." "These past two years without you, we made gifts for every holiday... don't you want to come home and see them? Please... just give me another chance." His voice was so terrified that a wrong tone, a wrong breath, would send me running again. Callum stepped forward, but I stopped him. I met George's eyes with a calmness I never had before. "Alpha," I said quietly, "all of that is in the past. Our mate bond was dissolved long ago." I placed a protective palm over the life growing inside me, a pup conceived in love, not politics.

"And I've already formed a new mate bond with Callum. He has marked me. Soon, we'll have our own pup. As for Finley... he never cared for me. Without me, I'm sure he lives just fine." "So please, don't disturb my life anymore." George went still, like someone had poured ice water straight down his spine. His gaze locked onto my stomach, and whatever light remained in his eyes flickered out entirely. I turned away and took Callum's hand. We walked until George's figure blurred behind the falling snow, a solitary silhouette, unmoving, swallowed gradually by the white.

I had told Callum everything before we ever became a couple. My past with George, the pain, the betrayal... the whole story. He never once hesitated. Everyone had a past. What mattered was the life we chose now. Slowly, through quiet days and shared winters, we grew closer. Chapter 12 8.63% We healed. We built something new. Life now was peaceful and quiet. I thought that would be the end of it, that George would finally turn around and disappear from my world. I thought wrong.
