Chapter 5 Liam drove me to the Long Island estate, the hidden retreat my mother had left me. Since I was a child, whenever I felt down, Liam would come here and stay with me for a few days. Before leaving, he gave me a complicated look. "The Don was probably just really angry. You made him send Vivian to Italy. If you're feeling bad, do you want me to stay tonight?" I stood with my back to him, my voice cold. "No. You don't need to come here anymore." His breath hitched for a moment. Still, he quietly closed the door for me.
Then he stayed outside, keeping vigil under the streetlamp all night long. Through the window, I watched him. I realized he really was a good man. Even now, he was keeping the promise he made to my mother. But I didn't need that anymore. When I woke up the next morning, I decided to go home one last time. I still had to get my mother's things back. The moment I entered, I saw Vivian laughing in the living room, casually painting over my mother's artwork. The portraits she left behind were stained and faded, the figures almost shatter. "Put that down!" My shout rang out.
Vivian shook and stumbled backward, bumping into the easel. Crash! The last thing my mother left me was torn apart right in front of me. She scrambled to her feet, apologizing and rubbing her face. Her knees pressed down on the last intact part of the frame. "I'm sorry, Isabella! I was feeling down, so Liam brought these over to cheer me up..." "Please don't be mad! I'll buy you new ones, exactly the same!" I was livid. I grabbed a fruit knife from the coffee table, ready to gut her right then and there. But Liam, who had rushed over after hearing the news, stepped firmly in front of her.

"They're just some worthless paintings. I'll get you new ones if it means that much!" Chapter 5 3.68% I stared at him. "Do you have any idea that those were the last things my mother ever gave me?" "I know." He faltered, his voice dropping. "But you ruined Vivian's future. What's a few paintings compared to that?" My voice shaking, I swung the knife at him. "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to touch my things?" Unable to dodge in time, Liam's hand was cut open. Dark blood dripped onto the floor. "Stop! It's my fault! Isabella, don't take it out on Liam!
He's a doctor - his hands can't get hurt!" Vivian screamed as she rushed forward to shield him. My blade drove straight toward her. "Stop!" Liam shouted. I didn't listen. He pulled Vivian into his arms and shoved me away with force. "I said stop!" His strength was overwhelming. I hit the wall, feeling warmth spreading across my forehead. When he saw I was hurt, panic flashed across his face. He let go of Vivian and ran over, pulling me into his arms. "It's always like this! Do you have to hurt yourself every time just to make me worry?" The moment the words left his mouth, Liam froze.
Even he seemed surprised by how much he cared. I was sent to the hospital. Liam stayed by my side for three days. When I woke, he was lowering his head while peeling an apple. "I'll marry you. I never forgot the promise I made back then." I said nothing. He handed me the apple. "I promised I'd look out for you for life, and I meant it." "But Vivian... stop making things so hard for her. She already agreed to marry into that family for you." I turned away, hiding my eyes, now wet with tears, under the blanket, So Vivian had never told Liam. was me. Liam sighed and watched me for a long time before placing the apple on the bedside table and leaving. He'd stayed with me for three days. He was probably dying to get back to Vivian. After all, as far as he knew... Vivian was leaving for Italy that very afternoon. That same afternoon, I checked myself out of the hospital and headed alone to the Andreotti family's private airport in New York. I changed into the wedding gown they had sent and covered my face with a lace veil. The Andreotti family was extremely traditional. Only my husband was allowed to lift my veil with his own hands.
Just as I was about to board the plane, Liam came running after me. Wasn't he supposed to be at Vivian's wedding? Chapter 5 3.68% admin
