Chapter 30
Darius Stormraven refused to accept that I was gone . He rejected the thought that I had boarded that plane .
Jumping into his car, he slammed his foot against the gas pedal , tires screeching as he raced toward the search team . He needed answers . He needed confirmation .
But after barely passing two intersections , his grip on the wheel tightened , and without thinking , he jerked the car to a violent stop by the side of the road .
His hands balled into fists , and before he could control himself , he struck his own face -once , twice - sharp smacks echoing in the silence .

This was on him . The staged accident . The forced procedure . Every single betrayal .
I had already been weakened . A fully capable wolf might not have survived a crash like that - so how could I have ?
His breaths came in uneven gasps as he yanked out his phone and opened our old messages .
My profile picture stared back at him , frozen in time . Smiling .
Like I was still here .
Darius Stormraven's fingers hovered above the screen before finally brushing over my image , tracing the contours again and again . It was the only thing that made it feel like I hadn't completely vanished .

The last message was from two days ago . That night , he had sent a long text explaining the Pack gathering , his words laced with false warmth .
I had never responded .
I always responded before . No matter what .
His messages had always been pinned at the top of my screen . I never ignored his calls .
When had that changed ?
He hadn't noticed .
But now , looking back , realization hit him like a silver dagger to the gut . It started after the accident .
He scrolled up . Five years of anticipation ,

excitement , and blind trust stared back at him .

The dresses . The ceremony arrangements . They had all been meaningless distractions , meant to keep me occupied while he continued to feed me deception .
For five years , I had held onto the dream of that day , believing Darius Stormraven cherished me as much as I adored him .
But he had been deceiving me from the very beginning .
And I had been a fool .
Darius Stormraven's vision blurred as he scrolled through our old messages , each one filled with my joy , my unwavering faith in him .
His chest tightened , breath growing shallow .

Tears splattered onto his phone screen .
Desperation overtook him . He started
typing - frantically ,
feverishly - confessing ,
pleading , apologizing .
But when he hit send , only a single checkmark appeared .
I had blocked him .
His pulse pounded in his ears . His grip on the steering wheel turned vice - like as he slammed his foot on the gas , speeding toward the search team like a wolf chasing a fading scent .
But it was too late .
They had found nothing .
No wreckage .

No body .
Luna Evelyn Darkmoor Winslet was gone .
Or so he thought .
Because at that very moment , my plane was landing in another Pack's territory .
The crash had been a lie . A trap - for him .
Darius Stormraven had wanted me
shattered , helpless , trapped in the elaborate prison of his lies .
So before I vanished completely , I left him with a final parting gift .
At the airport , my best friend sprinted toward me .
But the second she caught sight of the wheelchair , she froze .
