Chapter 114 Grayson Two weeks ago , Harper set some boundaries between us while I was with her on the dance floor . I'd let it get to me for a few hours but reminded myself that this was Harper , the same girl who had always loved me . She might've been in a relationship with Maddox . But how could she forget me so easily ? She definitely didn't . I'd felt her tremble in my arms with the way I'd touched her . I wanted to wait long enough before making a move and looking at how much time had passed , I was certain that it wasn't going to take much for her to cling to me like she used to , just how I liked it . I only had one more meeting before heading over to her place , so I came home first to pick up an important document . When I pushed the bedroom door open , Tiffany was on the bed while scrolling on her phone . " Babe , you're back , " she said . She didn't even get up to kiss or hug me and I just thought her mood swings were to blame .

" Yeah , I need the documents from February , " I said , putting the briefcase on the edge of the bed and opening it . " What's with that face ? Someone pissed you off ? " She groaned . " I don't get why people are still talking about Harper's diamond necklace . It's been two fucking weeks ! " I raised my eyebrows while flipping through the documents . I had seen such articles , praising Maddox online and I could only imagine what the headline was this time . I was so curious to check it out that I began to approach the other side of the bed so I could see it from her phone . " What does it say ? " I asked . Right before I could get close enough , she quickly placed her phone down on the pillow and it was flipped over so the screen wouldn't be exposed . " Just forget about it ." She sighed dismissively , then got up from the bed , holding my hand and leading me towards the large mirror . " I need a massage .

I can definitely go to the spa , but I want to feel your touch ." Her silk robe slipped down to her arms , exposing her sexy shoulders as she waited for me . " You do it so well . I know you're in a hurry , but just a few minutes , please ? " Her tone was flirtatious . I hesitated as I glanced at her phone for a second before focusing on her . Even though I stepped forward to give her what she wanted , I couldn't help but wonder why lately , I hadn't been able to even get a glimpse of her phone screen . " You know ," I began , " these articles about Maddox always give me a good laugh .

I know you told me to forget about it , but I want to see it ." She moaned softly as she dropped her head to the side . " I'll send you the link . " " Or you can just show me now since you're still on the page ." " Not anymore . I clicked off . Besides , it's better to read it from your phone . The article is quite long and I have things to do on mine . " " Actually , I just want to read the headline since that's what always gets me ." It took her a few seconds to respond .

" Maybe some other time ." The more I pushed for her to show me and she kept being dismissive , the more it started getting on my nerves until I couldn't take it anymore . " What's going on with you lately ? " I asked , a little annoyed . " This isn't the first time you've done this . " " Done what ? " Her eyes narrowed as she looked back at me . " You've done this so many times that it's starting to look like you're hiding something from me ." She turned around to face me , then burst into laughter . I just stood there with a frown , wondering what was funny .

" Oh , babe , of course I'm hiding something , " she admitted , gently pulling my necktie as she stood on her tippy toes to kiss me on the lips . " But it's not ready yet ." My head tilted with curiosity . " What do you mean ? " She sensually ran her hands down my chest . " It's been over a month now and I've been working on something big just for you . I keep getting notifications on my phone and I don't want you to even have a clue of what it is . So yes , I'm hiding something from you . Until it's ready , I'm not giving you even the slightest chance to catch a glimpse of my screen . Okay ?

" I sighed . " Look what you've done to me now . I won't stop thinking about it until you tell me what it is . " She chuckled , picking up her phone and heading to the bathroom door . " Then prepare to feel this way for the next four weeks . " My eyes widened in protest . " Four weeks ? " " Yup ," she said before closing the bathroom door and locking it . I sighed with relief before laughing at myself . My mind had raced with so many reasons as to why she wouldn't let me see anything from her phone . After my meeting came to an end close to 5 PM , I didn't head home right away .

I parked my car just a few blocks away from Harper's place , already laughing to myself as I knew exactly how this was going to play out . I dialed her number , leaned back in my seat and watched myself smirk in the mirror . Since I hadn't been in touch for a while , I expected her to pick up in a split second . To my surprise , that didn't happen . Didn't she miss me enough to want to hear from me the second I called ? I waited , my smirk fading as I began to lose hope . When it stopped ringing without her picking up , I sighed in disbelief . Was I wrong ? What was going on with her ?
