---- Chapter 15 Ethan's POV I spent another two hours digging through the ruins. I sifted through every inch of scorched earth, every piece of debris. Living room, bedroom, study, kitchen, bathroom... I went through our home three times. Nothing. No body, no bones. Not even a single strand of hair. What did that mean? It meant she didn't die in the fire. It meant she left before she set it. I collapsed in the center of the ruins, covered in ash and sweat. She was really gone. She burned down our home and walked away without looking back. Just then, I heard footsteps by the stairwell.
"My goddess! What happened here?" ---- It was our butler, his voice shaking with shock and fear. I looked up to see the old man who had worked for us for five years, standing at the entrance, his jaw on the floor. "Albert," my voice was a rasp. "Do you know what happened?" "J... [don't know." He stepped carefully inside. "Last night, the Luna gave us all leave. Said she needed a few days alone." "Leave?" I shot to my feet. "Yes, Alpha," Albert nodded. "She gave us all double pay and told us to take a vacation. She said... she said she needed time to think." Think about what?
How to get her revenge? How to leave me? "What else did she say?" I asked urgently. "She... she told us not to worry about her safety," Albert answered cautiously. "She said someone would be protecting her." Someone protecting her? ---- Who? Julian? My heart began to pound. limmediately sent a mind-link to my Beta. "Alpha?" His voice sounded exhausted. "Are you alright?" "Where is Seraphina?" I cut straight to the point. "Tell me where she is, now!" "Alpha, now is not the time," my Beta's voice was strained. "Our alliances are fracturing. Vassal packs are demanding answers.

Our enemies smell blood in the water." "To hell with the crisis!" I snarled. "Nothing else matters. Find her." "We're looking, but..." "But what?" "But it's like she's vanished," he said, his voice full of frustration. "Impossible!" I clenched my fists. "A person can't just disappear!" ---- "Alpha, maybe you should handle the crisis at hand first... "To hell with the crisis!" I cut him off. "I'm not doing anything until you find her!" "But..." Suddenly, my Beta's voice was a sudden crackle of energy in my mind. "Alpha! We have a sighting!" "What is it?" The words were a prayer.
My heart felt like it would explode. "The Luna, she's here!" he blurted out, his voice a mix of confusion and relief. "She's in your office. Right now." The Luna? Seraphina? She's in my office? Relief, so powerful it buckled my knees, washed over me. She's alive. She didn't leave me. She came back for me. Maybe she saw the truth. She knows I was tricked. She's willing to forgive me! "I'm coming," my voice cracked. "Keep her there," I ---- commanded, my voice thick with emotion. "On my authority as Alpha, do not let her leave that room." "Yes, Alpha!" I ended the link and rushed for the door.
Albert was still standing there, looking at the ruins and shaking his head. "Albert!" I called out. "Rebuild it," I commanded, my voice raw with a hope so fierce it felt like madness. "I want it back. Exactly the way she left it." "But, Alpha..." "Just do it!" I was already at the elevator. "I'm going to give my Luna a surprise!"
