---- Chapter 14 Ethan's POV I bolted from the hall. My Beta's voice echoed in my head through our mind-link. "Alpha, the guards said the last sighting of the Luna was at the penthouse." Our home. The thought was a prayer, a desperate hope. She wouldn't leave me. She's waiting for me. At home. I had to get back to Seraphina. To tell her the truth. To tell her I was wrong. To tell her I loved her. "Alpha!" My Beta chased after me. "Your car keys!" I snatched the keys and jumped into my sports car. The engine roared, tires screeching against the pavement.

Islammed my foot on the gas, and the car shot out of the parking garage like an arrow. The world became a blur. My heart hammered against my ribs, a war drum chanting her name. Sera-fina. Sera- fina. Sera-fina. Seraphina... ---- My Luna... I'll make it up to you. I swear it. No more doubts. No more pain. Just... please, Goddess, please... let me have one more chance. Forgive me, Sera. Please forgive me. Red lights? I blew through them. Speed limits? I didn't care. All I wanted was to see her. To hold her and tell her it was all over. Lilith's game was up. We could start again.

I'll find Lydia's body and give her a proper burial. I'll pray to the Moon Goddess for Marcus... We'll have more pup. So many pup. I will never doubt you again. Never hurt you again. The car screeched to a halt in front of the penthouse building. I jumped out and sprinted for the elevator. "Come on, come on, come on!" I hammered the elevator button. The elevator crept upward. Every second felt like an ---- eternity. Finally! The moment the doors opened, a sharp, acrid smell hit me. The smell of smoke. My heart stopped. Iran out of the elevator and saw... Ablackened skeleton.

That's all that was left. Our home was gone. Turned to ash. The beautiful furniture, the precious decorations, the photos of our happy memories... All of it, turned to ash. "No..." I stumbled into the wreckage, trembling. "This can't be..." I could barely make out the shape of the living room, but it had been devoured by fire. The dining table where we'd shared countless meals was now just a twisted metal frame. ---- My voice tore from my throat, raw and broken. " SERAPHINA!" A howl of pure despair. "WHERE ARE YOU? Only the wind and the creak of burnt wood answered me.

I tore through the ruins, desperate for any sign of life. Maybe she was still here. Maybe she was just hurt, waiting for me to save her. "Sera!" My voice was raw. "Please, answer me!" Still nothing. Iran to where our bedroom used to be. There was a pile of blackened debris where our bed once stood. We spent so many nights in that bed. She used to sleep so peacefully in my arms, her breath as soft as a feather. I used to watch her sleep and think I was the luckiest man in the world. "Please don't be in here," I fell to my knees, clawing at the hot rubble with bare hands. The pain was nothing.

" ---- Please, Goddess, don't let her be dead..." But I found nothing. No body. No blood. Maybe... maybe she got out? I rushed to the study. It used to be filled with her favorite old books and the tapestries she'd woven by hand. Now, just a pile of ash. "Seraphina!" I cried out in despair. "If you're alive, please, answer me!" "I was wrong! Sera, I was so wrong!" "It was alla lie! Lilith's lie!" I sank into the ash, my screams turning to sobs. "It was always you! I love you, Sera! I only ever loved YOU!"
