Chapter 9 "Riley, are you crazy?! He's your son! How could you hurt him like that?!" Nelly's face turned bright red with anger as she screamed at Riley. He simply stood there, unmoved. "He should never have been born. I should've never let you keep him ten years ago." In the end, a coworker of mine couldn't watch anymore and called an ambulance, sending Nelly and her child to the hospital. The circus ended just like that. Because Riley had accomplished nothing in the Top-Secret Research Project, the company fired him according to company rules and regulations.

He tried to find me that day, but I had already moved and changed all my contact information. The next day, he came to the company looking for me, but security stopped him at the door. It wasn't until late at night, when I left work, that he finally managed to ambush me outside the company after waiting the entire day. He rushed to explain, "Anna, I'll never be with Nelly, and I won't acknowledge that boy. I have no feelings for her. I really didn't know she would do any of those things." After that day, I never saw Riley or Nelly again. Life seemed to go back to normal.

A month later, I saw a news report about them on TV. Nelly had killed Riley. Turned out, after that day, Nelly had gone to Riley's place every day, pestering him and begging him to marry her. "Riley, Anna doesn't want you anymore. I'm all you have now. Let's get married and raise our child together, okay?" But Riley already knew what kind of life Nelly had been living these past years. He drank his alcohol and mocked her, "You're trash. Who knows how many men you've slept with? Who even knows if that kid is mine?" "I'm in this mess because of you!

Back then, you just left on a whim and didn't care about me or the baby! How could you say that to me?!" Nelly had screamed through her tears. But Riley hadn't cared at all, continuing to drink nonstop. Later, he had even slept with other women right in front of her. In a fit of rage, Nelly had stabbed Riley to death. Nelly was sentenced to death. Before her execution, she asked to see me. With handcuffs on her wrists, she looked at me with pleading eyes through the glass. "Anna, I know I was wrong. I'm sorry. But you're the only person I know. Please, take care of my boy.

He really is Riley's son. You can't have children. Why not adopt him? He's a good boy and will take care of you when you're old." "No." Her request made me laugh. "Why would I ever adopt the child of my enemy? You're the one who caused my parents' deaths. Don't worry, he'll be sent to an orphanage. Who knows what kind of life he'll have." With that, I got up to leave. She jumped up, slamming her fists on the glass as she yelled, "Anna! What are you planning to do?! If you touch my son, I'll never forgive you!!! Of course, I wouldn't hurt her child.
