Chapter 8 Doria glanced outside. The sky was darkening. A flicker of calculation crossed his face. He turned back to me. "What happened between us right after the wedding is our business. Why are you taking it out on Lily?! Why drag my project into this?!" I glanced at the fading light. He was stalling-waiting for it to get dark so he could use my supposed "night blindness" against me. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. "First of all, take a good look in the mirror. Second, your precious first love is only six years older than you.
So why does she look sixteen years older?" I gasped, covering my mouth in mock shock. Oh wait... I heard women who've had kids age faster. Don't tell me your first love had someone else's baby overseas and came crawling back to make you the sucker?" I stared at the top of his head like I could already see the grass growing. "No wonder your head's turning into a whole damn prairie." Doria's face was priceless. Then he seemed to spot someone behind me. Lysander! Come here and back me up!

I was overseas on business this whole month, but Kristine's got the wrong idea." -ysander walked over, glanced at the top of Doria's head, and nodded thoughtfully. "Mm. Yeah, definitely looks like a prairie." snorted. Doria's face got even uglier. He glared at Lysander. "What the hell are you talking about?!" Nothing much. Just happened to see some photos. The woman in them looks a lot like your... old side piece." ysander actually pulled out his phone and showed Doria the screen. caught a glimpse-photos of Lily getting cozy with different men overseas.
There was even a foreign marriage certificate. One particularly eye-searing shot howed her in a bikini with three guys. ysander's hand suddenly covered my eyes. "Too dirty. Don't look." heard Doria's voice crack. "This is fake! Someone photoshopped these! Lily would never-" ysander replied calmly, "Maybe. But based on the timestamps and locations, these were all taken during the years she wasn't in the country and ghosted you." Doria's eyes suddenly landed on me and Lysander. Suspicion flickered across his face. "You two...?" looped my arm through Lysander's. He looked thrilled.
I stared Doria down. "Isn't this the groom you personally sent to my bed?" Doria's face went white. Then red. He grabbed Lysander by the collar. "You bastard! Who told you to touch her?!" lis fist swung-but Lysander's landed first, knocking him flat on his ass. told the guard to let them sort it out and headed toward the parking garage. 'd barely stepped inside when a group of thugs blocked my path. One of them muttered to the guy with a scar on his face. "Boss, it should be dark outside by now, right? But she doesn't look blind..." scar Face sized me up. I sized them up right back.
"Maybe it's not fully dark yet." One of the guys cracked his knuckles, licking his lips like a creep. "Damn, she really is hot as hell. Can't believe we're getting paid for this." I glanced past them and spotted the hem of Lily's dress peeking out from behind a pillar. "Do you even know who I am?" Scar Face's buddy sneered. "Some pretty blind chick who can't see at night. You should be grateful we're giving you attention." I looked him up and down. "Oh? You think I'm blind?" He faltered under my stare, leaning closer to Scar Face. Uh...
