---- Chapter 6 Thad been wearing this bangle for as long as I could remember. When I was very young, I had asked Harriet why I had to wear it and what it was for. Back then, Harriet had said that the bangle had been blessed with holy water and would protect me throughout my life She told me to never take it off, or I would bring misfortune upon myself. I took her words to heart and never removed it. As I grew older, I could not take it off at all. Thad gotten so used to its existence that it felt like a part of me.
When I mysteriously started aging prematurely, I wondered if Harriet had given me some kind of cursed object. I could not leave the house, so I always suspected that the object was at home. When Harriet and Warren were away, I searched through the whole house but found nothing. Inever considered that it might be on my own person. It was not until 1 saw the diamond bracelet on Harriet's wrist that I remembered my bangle. ---- It was the only thing that Harriet had ever given me.
Thinking this was my last chance, I gritted my teeth and secretly removed it The act scraped a layer of skin from my wrist, and blood seeped through The second the bangle was off, I could feel the unnatural aging of my body stop. Icould breathe easier, and my chest stopped aching so much. That was when I knew that I had gambled and won! It was indeed this bangle that was cursed. Strangely, however, I did not regain my youthful and flawless looks. I still looked like an old woman. Harriet's face went pale when she saw me without the bangle. She was still determined to convince Gordon.

"Gordon, don't listen to her! She's crazy! She's trying to trick you with that ugly old thing." This time, Gordon saw that there were even more spots and wrinkles on Harriet's face. In disgust, he kicked her away. "Do you think I'm a fool? I knew there was something wrong that night when you tried getting into my bed. But you really did look a little like Emery, so I took you at your word at the moment." ---- After that, Gordon snatched the bangle from me and looked at it. Then, he said to me coldly, "I'll keep this with me for now.
TU find out if what you said is true." He turned to the guests and gave them a small bow. He said, " I'm sorry, everyone. I'm afraid the wedding will have to be paused. Once I investigate this, Il give you all a proper explanation." Displeased, all the guests got up and left. However, Warren was still intent on getting an explanation from Gordon. He went straight to Gordon and said, "You slept with my wife, and now you want to kick her out? How do you plan to make this right?" Gordon's eyes narrowed. "I'm in a bad mood right now, so you'd better think twice.
Take that woman with you and get out!" Warren was insistent. "Do you think I can ignore the fact that you slept with my wife? If you don't pay me a few million dollars in compensation, I'll post everything online and ruin your reputation." Gordon's expression suddenly turned menacing. He signaled to a bodyguard, who immediately started beating up Warren. Warren cried out and curled into a ball to protect his head. I watched everything without a flicker of sympathy. All I ---- could think about was how Warren always hit me.
A strange, satisfying joy rose within me It seemed that my decision to go to Gordon had been the right one. Abad person like Warren needed to be taught a lesson by someone even more ruthless than him. Iwas happily watching all this when Gordon suddenly grabbed a baseball bat and walked forward. The bodyguards quickly got out of the way. He looked at Warren as if he were not even human. Coldly, he said, "You might not know what happens to those who threaten me. I'll show you." Gordon swung at Warren. Warren's screams echoed through the ballroom. His leg was broken.
He would never be able to kick me again.
