I'm building a new team , and I'm taking a few key people from headquarters . I've always been impressed with your work , and you were solid as a rock during this crisis . " She looked right at Wren .
" I want to know if you're interested in coming with me . " Wren's heart skipped a beat . " It's a promotion . AVP , " Evelyn added . " You've been here five years , worked your way up . Your foundation is solid , but let's be honest , you've hit a ceiling here . " Evelyn pushed a file across the desk . " It's a fresh start over there . More opportunity , bigger challenges . No office politics . Your work is the only thing that will matter . For you , it's a chance to get out of your comfort zone , to really prove yourself on your own terms . " Wren scanned the file . She barely hesitated .
" I'll do it . " " Good . HR will be in touch with the details . Get ready . I'll see you in Southbridge . " A small smile touched Wren's lips . " See you in Southbridge . " [ After work . The Bluebird Cafe . We need to talk about the agreement . ] Wren glanced at the text from Ronan and replied quickly : [ Okay . ] At five , she packed her things - no rushing , no delaying - and arrived at the cafe on time , like it was any other business meeting . 09:48 Dumping My CEO Husband AND His Annoying Little Heir Was the Best Career Move I Ever Made !

" Some problems can't be fixed with a good plan and perfect execution . " " What's between us isn't Orion , or Sloane , or even the baby we lost . " " It's time . And the endless waiting . " The lawyers can handle the rest . " " Okay . " He spoke again . " I heard you're transferring to Southbridge . " Wren nodded . " Yes . " " To get away from me? " he asked . Wren shook her head , her voice steady . " No. I just want to see how far I can go on my own . " Ronan nodded slowly and gathered the papers from the table . A thousand words were stuck in his throat , but all that came out was a single , heavy sound : " Good . " Wren picked up her coat from the back of the chair and stood . " I should go .
" As she walked past , Ronan pushed himself to his feet , his fingertips resting on the table to steady himself . Wren walked quickly , but she stopped at the door . She suddenly turned , walked back , and wrapped her arms around him from behind . She pressed her cheek against the cold fabric of his coat and felt him go completely still , followed by a faint , uncontrollable tremor .
