Let Them Come DAMIEN'S POV The palace gates loomed ahead as I pushed the car harder down the winding road. Trees blurred past, but my mind was sharper than ever-Scarlett's voice echoing in my head like a bad dream that wouldn't end. "We're going to get our hands on that property. Real soon." My knuckles whitened on the wheel. The Crescent Moon territory wasn't just land. It was sacred. Hidden trails where our ancestors shifted under the full moon. Burial grounds. A place where packs gathered for rituals no human eye had ever seen.
If they built a resort there-tourists, workers, cameras-it would be the end. Exposure. War. I slammed on the brakes at the guard post. The guards recognized me instantly, dipping their heads in respect as the gates swung open. No time for greetings. I parked roughly and strode through the grand halls, boots echoing on the marble floors. Guards nodded, but I barely saw them. My wolf paced inside me, claws scraping for a fight. Maximus's office door was cracked open. I pushed through without knocking. He was there-behind his massive oak desk, papers spread out like battle plans.
Emilia sat on the couch nearby, one hand resting protectively on her swollen belly, her blue dress catching the light from the tall windows. Lucien leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his usual stoic expression in place. They all looked up as I entered. Maximus leaned back in his chair, brow raised. "You look like hell. What's the urgent matter?" I didn't sit. Couldn't. The words burned out of me. "Some f*****g humans want the Crescent Moon territory." The room went dead silent. Maximus leaned forward, eyes narrowing to slits.

"No f*****g way." I paced in front of his desk, rage boiling over. "Scarlett showed up at my office with proposals. Maps. Surveys. They want to turn it into a luxury resort-villas, spas, the works. Secluded, they call it. Right on our sacred grounds." Lucien pushed off the wall, fists clenching. "We can't let them anywhere near our lands. It's forbidden. One wrong move, one hiker stumbling into a shift-" 1/3 < 080 Let Them Come "Exactly," I cut in, voice rising. "But this stupid b***h thinks she knows someone who can help them get it. This is our land. We can't let them build anything there.
It would risk humans knowing we truly exist. They all think we're fictional-stories for movies and books. We want it to remain that way. But if we let them get that land and start digging, building, bringing in crews... we'll be risking everything. The packs. The kingdom. All of it." Maximus's face darkened, the king in him rising. His fingers drummed on the desk-slow, deliberate, like he was counting down to an explosion. "Tell the b***h it's not for sale," Lucien growled, stepping closer. "How can they want something that doesn't belong to them?" "I already did," I snapped.
"But that stupid company-Salvatore's-they're bent on it. And we have to do something fast. In a few days, they'll be coming around to survey like they have the f*****g right. Lucien cursed under his breath. "Dammit." The air in the room thickened, heavy with unspoken fears. I could feel it pressing down-centuries of secrecy hanging by a thread. One leak, one photo, one witness... and the human world would come crashing in. Hunts. Experiments. War. Maximus stayed quiet, staring at the map on his desk-a detailed one of our territories, marked with patrol routes and hidden wards.
His jaw ticked eyes distant like he was calculating every possible outcome. Emilia shifted on the couch, her hand rubbing slow circles over her bump. She looked deep in thought, brows furrowed, lips pressed tight. I stopped pacing, turning to my brother. "What are we going to do?" I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. "We hit them hard? Legal? Or..." My voice dropped. Quietly?" The silence stretched-tense, electric. Lucien shifted his weight, ready for action. I felt my wolf snarling inside, demanding blood. Then Emilia spoke. "Let them come." Every eye in the room snapped to her.
My stomach dropped. "What?" Maximus didn't react-didn't even blink. Instead, a slow smirk curved his lips as he leaned back in his chair, completely unbothered. " 2/3 +25 Points Ema met my stare, calm as ever. "I know what I'm saying. Let them come." I stared at her like she'd lost her mind. "How can you say that?" I turned to Maximus, expecting him to shut it down. But he just nodded once, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Do as she says." The room spun. "You can't be serious." Maximus's eyes met mine-steady, unyielding.
"I am." The tension snapped tighter, coiling like a spring ready to break. What the hell were they thinking? Let humans walk right into our territory? This wasn't a plan. This was suicide.
