The Nicer Brother ROSE'S POV I sat in the lecture hall, waiting for my first class to start, and I couldn't stop the smile from spreading across my face. Business Management 101. My first real college class. The room was filling up slowly-students chatting, pulling out laptops, sipping coffee. The air smelled like fresh notebooks and nervous energy. I felt it too, that flutter in my stomach, but mostly excitement. This was what I'd fought for. What I'd dreamed about when I was just a maid scrubbing floors back in the kingdom. A real chance to learn. To grow.
To be part of Damien's world in a way that wasn't just standing beside him. Some of the guys in the row behind me were glancing my way-I could feel their eyes. Whispering. One even smiled when I accidentally looked back. My cheeks heated, and I shifted in my seat, pulling my notebook closer like a shield. I wasn't used to attention like this. Back home, everyone knew I was Damien's. Here... I was just the new girl with curly hair and a shy smile. It made me uncomfortable, but I pushed it down. They were the least of my problems.
The professor walked in-a middle-aged woman with sharp glasses and a no-nonsense stride. She launched right into the syllabus, talking fast about economics, case studies, group projects. It was harder than I expected. Terms I'd only read about in books flew past me, and I scribbled notes furiously, trying to keep up. My hand cramped by the end, but I felt good. Challenged. Alive. When the class ended, everyone started packing up. I gathered my things slowly, double-checking I had the reading list right. That's when he sat down beside me-sudden, too close.

A guy with messy brown hair and a cocky grin plopped into the empty seat, his hand landing on my shoulder like it belonged there. "Hey, curly hair." I froze, turning to him with a frown. His touch made my skin crawl. I tried to shrug his hand off, but he didn't move. Instead, he leaned in closer, breath too warm on my cheek. "I'm Leonard," he said, eyes roaming over my face. "What's your name, gorgeous?" *Excuse me," I said firmly, standing up. "I have to go UTVIS VILET $224 His hand shot out faster than I expected, fingers catching my chin, tilting my face toward him. "Come on, pretty.
The freshers' party is this weekend. I was hoping you'd go with me." My heart pounded-not in a good way. Anger flared hot in my chest. My wolf stirred, growling low inside me. I shoved his hand away hard. "Get lost." Before he could say anything else, another voice cut through-deep, annoyed. "When will you grow up, Leonard? This isn't high school. Stop harassing girls." A different guy appeared-taller, broader, with the same brown hair but sharper features. He shoved Leonard's shoulder, forcing him back. Leonard rolled his eyes but stood up, smirking.
"Whatever, man." The new guy turned to me, expression softening. "Don't mind my brother. He doesn't know when to quit." Brother? They looked alike now that he mentioned it. "Uhm... thank you," I mumbled, grabbing my bag quickly. I didn't want to stick around for more drama. I hurried toward the door, heart still racing. Behind me, the nicer brother called out, "See you around, Rose." I stopped dead in the doorway. I turned slowly. The hall was emptying, but he was already gone-blending into the crowd like he'd vanished. I didn't remember telling him my name. A chill ran down my spine.
The rest of the day blurred by in a rush of classes and orientation sessions. More lectures- marketing, accounting basics. Group intros where I smiled and said as little as possible. A campus tour that felt endless. Goddess it was tiring. By the time my last class ended, I was exhausted-brain fried, feet sore from walking everywhere. But it was a good exhausted. The kind that came from doing something real. I texted Damien as I walked to the pickup spot: Classes done! Waiting outside the main gate. No reply yet. He was probably still in a meeting.
I leaned against a low wall, scrolling on my phone, backpack at my feet. The campus was quieter now, students heading home or to dorms. III 2/3 +25 Panite But I felt it-eyes on me. That prickling sensation on the back of my neck. I looked around casually. Nothing obvious. Just a few people walking, someone on a bench with a book. Then a voice behind me-smooth, familiar. "Rose. We meet again." My blood turned to ice. I turned slowly. It was him-the nicer brother from earlier. Standing too close, hands in his pockets, that same easy smile on his face. But his eyes... they were sharper now.
