Within just a few days, I caught up on Declan and Cassia's mess through news articles on my phone while hiding out in a small mountain town in neutral territory, working as a teacher. My feelings were all mixed up about this outcome. After all, in my memory, even though Declan didn't love Cassia, he had still cared about her a little for the sake of their two kids. I had my own life to live now. I pushed open the wooden gate and watered the vegetables growing in the yard. Once I was done, I put down the watering can and sat back in the old chair to look at this children's home surrounded by hills.
