Chapter 1 Chapter 1 The Elder Council chamber felt like a tomb. I sat across from Elder Gideon Wycliffe, my hands folded in my lap to hide their trembling. "Miss Sinclair." His voice was old and commanding, rough like weathered leather. "I'm pleased you've finally come to your senses." I forced my voice to stay steady. "I agree to leave Declan Vale. But I have one condition-send me somewhere he'll never find me." Gideon's lips curved into a satisfied smile. "That night in the dungeon really opened your eyes to where you stand, didn't it?" His voice dripped with contempt.
"A defective half-breed who can't even shift properly was never meant to dirty the Vale Pack's noble Alpha bloodline." I dug my nails into my palms. The pain kept me focused. "Ten days from now, on the full moon," he continued, each word like a death sentence, "we'll arrange everything and send you away. And when that time comes, you better never show your face around Alpha Declan again." I nodded once, not trusting my voice, and stood to leave. Walking back through the mansion's corridors, I leaned against the cold stone wall for support.
Through the tall windows, I could see what was happening inside the main hall. Declan wasn't in human form. He'd kept his wolf shape-that magnificent silver-gray coat I used to know so well. His massive body was lying on his side by the fireplace, the warm flames painting him golden. Their daughter, little Ayla, was giggling and playing with the thick fur around his neck. And Cassia Ravenna was curled up against his warm belly, one hand gently stroking her slightly rounded stomach, her face glowing with pure happiness. What a perfect little family. So heartwarming it made me sick.
"Miss Sinclair, you're back?" Cassia spotted me first. She immediately sat up straight, her eyes turning sharp and wary, instinctively pulling Ayla behind her like a shield. Declan's reaction was just as quick. Silver light flashed, the huge wolf vanished, and in its place stood the tall, strong man. He handed Ayla to a waiting servant, whispering for them to take her upstairs. Only then did he turn to me. The way they both looked at me, full of suspicion and wariness, cut into me like knife blades.

This was the same man who once cupped my face and swore, "I'll only acknowledge children born from your blood," but now he was looking at me like I was some kind of killer. After Ayla was taken away, Declan walked closer. He reached out, as if to touch my frozen arm. "You're back. In the dungeon... did you get hurt?" I pulled away from his fingertips, looking at this face that had once taken ninety nine lashes for me without blinking. My heart felt like it was soaking in bitter bile. His brow furrowed slightly. 11.20 You Want Me Back? Too Bad.
My Alpha-lin Done Waiting 0.0% Chapter 1 "Nora, last night, the more I defended you, the harsher the Council's punishment would've been. With your current unstable condition, they might've even... used more extreme measures." He paused, lowering his voice. "We'll be leaving soon anyway. I don't want any more complications. Besides, Ayla is innocent. How could you..." "I told you, it wasn't me!" The words squeezed out through my clenched teeth, my eyes burning. "Wolfsbane is deadly to pups! No matter how low I've fallen, I know what that means!" Declan seemed startled by how upset I was.
He hesitated for a moment, then softened his tone. "Okay, it doesn't matter now. Ayla's fine." Those casual words stabbed into my heart like ice picks. He still didn't believe me. While we stood there in awkward silence, Cassia walked over, one hand on her belly. "Miss Sinclair, I owe you an apology too." Her voice was soft, with just the right amount of guilt. "I completely panicked back then. You might not... understand a mother's instinct to protect her young." She lifted her hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, and a soft gleam on her wrist suddenly caught my eye.
It was a necklace-a chain with a teardrop-shaped moonstone pendant, the edges set with tiny diamonds that sparkled in the firelight. It was the only thing my mother had left me. I grabbed her wrist, my voice cracking with shock. "This necklace... how do you have it?!" "I gave it to Cassia. She likes vintage pieces." Declan said calmly, pulling my hand away like I'd touched something I shouldn't have. "Think of it as... your apology gift to her. It's just a necklace anyway." "Just 'a necklace'?!" My voice shook, anger and heartbreak rising up together.
"This is the only thing I have left of my mother! How could you just give it away? You know exactly what it means to me!" I reached for it again, but Cassia suddenly cried out and stumbled backward, clutching her stomach. "My belly... it hurts so much..." Declan's face went white. He shoved me hard. "Nora! She's carrying my heir! Haven't you caused enough trouble?!" His strength was too much for someone in my weakened state. I lost my balance and fell backward, my spine slamming into the cold stone pillar in the hallway. The back of my head hit with a dull thud.
Warm liquid immediately started trickling down from my hairline, sliding down my neck. And Declan didn't even look back. He quickly but gently scooped Cassia up in his arms and rushed toward the exit. "Declan..." Cassia buried her face against his chest, letting out weak sobs. "Our baby... will it be okay?" "Don't worry, I'm here." His voice carried a tenderness he'd never shown me. "You'll be fine, and so will the baby." His figure disappeared around the corner, his footsteps urgent and fading. 11:30 You Want Me Back?
