Noticing that Arabella was heading down without purchasing any cigars, Naomi spoke up quickly, "We haven't gotten Grandpa's cigars yet. Why are we going downstairs?" "Not getting those. Let's go," Arabella replied, stepping into the elevator without turning back. Naomi paused, surprised. "Then you go ahead.
I'll go pick some up for him." She couldn't understand why Arabella had suddenly decided against buying the cigars. They'd already chosen gifts for Grandma-why wouldn't she want to get something for Grandpa? Naomi couldn't help but wonder. She'd clearly told Arabella that Grandpa enjoyed a good cigar, yet Arabella still refused to buy any. Did it mean she didn't really care about Grandpa's preferences? But since Arabella wouldn't get them, Naomi felt she had to. Every time she visited, she made sure to bring Grandpa his favorite cigars, and today shouldn't be any different.
Even though her arms were already straining under the weight of the supplements, she turned back toward the tobacco boutique. Arabella hesitated briefly, considering whether to persuade Naomi again. But seeing the resolve in Naomi's eyes, she simply let her go. Before Arabella could take the bags from Naomi's hands, the elevator doors closed. She rode down alone. The driver was outside arranging the flowers in the trunk. When he saw Arabella approaching with several shopping bags, he hurried over and took them from her. "Please get in the car.
We'll be ready to leave shortly," the driver said, then returned to organizing the gifts. A few minutes later, just as he finished, Naomi walked wearily toward the car, still carrying the remaining supplements. Seeing that Naomi-usually so delicate-was lugging so many items by herself, the driver immediately stepped forward to assist her. "Ms. Hamilton, you shouldn't have carried all this alone." 1/3 14:32 Thu, Jan 29 M Naomi was too tired to speak. She motioned for him to take the bags, then opened the car door and sank into the seat.

She had never carried so many things in her life. Was Arabella treating her like hired help? She grumbled inwardly but didn't dare say much aloud. Once the driver had everything stowed, he started the car and set off toward Hamilton Manor. Only then did Naomi realize that in all the carrying and fetching, she'd never bought breakfast. She'd only had that carton of milk that morning-all because of Arabella's rush. The thought of visiting her grandparents on an empty stomach left her feeling irritable. For the rest of the drive, she sat in silent annoyance.
About twenty minutes later, the car turned smoothly into the grounds of Hamilton Manor. Unlike the traditional, vintage style of Stewart Manor, Hamilton Manor was a luxurious modern compound with Mediterranean-inspired architecture. Looking out at the seemingly endless property, Arabella couldn't help feeling impressed. She had thought her parents' seaside home was among the finest in the city, but Grandpa's estate was on another level... As the car continued along the drive, a golf course came into view. There was even a private golf course here? It seemed Grandpa must enjoy the game.
Further in, other amenities appeared-a stable, riding paddocks, tennis courts. Life here was clearly rich and full... It didn't seem like a typical retiree's retreat at all. Arabella noticed a vegetable garden and an orchard lining one side of the road. It seemed her grandparents were in good health. Growing their own produce meant they ate well and lived actively. She felt a bit reassured. Taking in the whole scene, she found herself almost enchanted by the place. It felt connected to nature, grounded and peaceful.
Naomi, who had been quiet for a while, noticed Arabella gazing out the window. She smiled and asked, "Feel like playing a round of golf after we see Grandma and Grandpa?" She hadn't played in ages, and the sight of the course had stirred her interest. With Ruby not 2/3 14:32 Thu, Jan 29 M... But Arabella had no interest in joining her for golf. She wasn't here to socialize. "I have other things to attend to.
You go ahead," she declined directly. "Oh, maybe another time then," Naomi said. Even though Arabella had turned her down, she showed no sign of irritation. She simply assumed Arabella didn't know how to play and was too embarrassed to admit it. At the main entrance, Florence hadn't yet seen the girls' car and was starting to worry they might have gotten lost. She glanced at Jonathan. "Their car isn't here yet. Do you think they took a wrong turn?" Jonathan smiled calmly. "I doubt it. Naomi's with her, after all. Probably just traffic.
Let's head inside first." Just as he finished speaking, the car pulled up at the front portico. Seeing the girls had arrived, Jonathan smiled warmly. "See? They're here." Arabella noticed her parents had only just arrived themselves. She stepped out of the car and greeted them. "Mom, Dad, did you just get here too?" "Yes. Your mother was starting to worry you might have gotten lost," Jonathan explained, sharing Florence's earlier concern. Arabella looked at Florence and smiled gently. "Don't worry, Mom. I had the address you sent me." 90 。 3/3 Mark Twain
