Chapter 7 David never imagined that Sophia, who had always seemed so gentle and caring in front of him, could be so vicious behind his back. "David, please listen to me!" Sophia's head was spinning from the slap, but she forced herself to get up, desperate to explain. "I only acted that way because I care about you so much. It even drove me insane with jealousy every time you looked at Vivian with a gentle look. I only did what I did because I love you, David." As she spoke, she tried to grab the hem of his shirt.
However, David stepped back in disgust, his eyes full of anger and disappointment. "Care about me? Is this what you call caring about me? "Just because you care about me means you can treat Vivian and Joseph like that. Is that right? Listen here-if anything happens to Vivian, I will never forgive you." Lucas froze, startled by David's tone, and began to cry. "Dad, why are you hitting Mom over some lowly she-wolf? Mom only did it for us! How could you hit her?" David became angrier upon hearing his words. "Shut your mouth!" Glaring at Lucas, he added coldly, "Who's your dad? I'm not your dad!
Joseph's my only son!" Lucas went pale, finally realizing just how much trouble he was in. He quickly wrapped his arms around David's leg, trying to act all cutesy. "Dad, I'm sorry! Please don't be mad at me! Mom just lost her temper for a moment. Please forgive us!" David shoved him away expressionlessly. "Get them out of the pack. They are never ever allowed back." Sophia and Lucas instantly paled, causing her to plead, "David, please! I'll never do it again!" He also clung to David's leg, begging, "Dad, I'm sorry!

Please forgive Mom!" However, David pushed him off without hesitation, coldly instructing, "Take them away." "No! David!" Sophia screamed and cried, but David didn't even flinch. Right now, finding me was his only focus. Just then, one of his men rushed in with news. "Mr. Hayes, we found her! Ms. Lloyd went to the airport and bought a ticket for a flight down south!" David's eyes lit up with a flicker of hope. He'd finally found me. He immediately ordered the car to be ready, as he was going to come for me himself. He was determined to find me and apologize to me.
He swore to hire the best doctors to treat my illness and make things right for me and Joseph, as well as give us the best life possible. Meanwhile, I had traveled with Joseph through several stops and finally made it back to my hometown after many years. The moment we stepped off the plane, I saw my parents waiting at the exit. "Vivian!" My mom's voice trembled as she called my name, hurrying toward me. My dad was right behind her, his eyes shining with anticipation and joy. "Mom, Dad." I threw my arms around them, tears spilling down my cheeks.
"I've missed you so much." 1/2 "It's good that you're home. That's all that matters." Mom gently patted my back, her voice full of tenderness. Joseph stood beside me and greeted sweetly, "Grandpa, Grandma." My parents' faces lit up even more when they saw him. "Joseph, our sweet grandson. You've grown so much!" My mom knelt to wrap him in a tight hug. My dad ruffled his hair affectionately as his eyes brimmed with love. The three of us embraced, none of us wanting to let go. When my parents learned I was suffering from Wolf Spirit Degeneration, the smiles on their faces froze.
"What did you just say?" My mom stared at me in disbelief as she asked in a shaking voice, "You... You have Wolf Spirit Degeneration?" I nodded heavily, fresh tears spilling down. "Yes, Mom. I don't have much time left." Her knees buckled, and she nearly collapsed. My dad caught her, and his face was full of sadness. "How could this happen?" His voice was hoarse, barely above a whisper. "My dear daughter, how could you get an illness like this?" I held them both tightly, my tears soaking into their shoulders. "Mom, Dad...
I'm so sorry." "Don't say that, Vivian." Mom lifted her tear-filled eyes to look at me. "You've never let us down. You've always been our pride." "But I-"My voice broke, my heart heavy with guilt and sorrow. "Mom, where are you going?" Joseph had picked up on something. He wrapped his little arms tightly around me while staring at me with fear. "Are you leaving me?" "No, sweetheart. Mommy's not going anywhere." I held him close as my tears slid down my cheeks. "Please, Mom. Don't die. I don't have a dad anymore, and I can't lose you, too." His words were like a knife straight into my heart.
I was in so much pain, and my tears just kept falling uncontrollably. "Silly boy, your mom doesn't want to leave you either." My mom gripped my hand tightly as she cried. "Vivian, are you really going to give up, though? We can find the best doctors and the best medicine. There might still be hope." I let out a silent sigh, letting my tears fall without answering.
