Chapter 5 Meanwhile, David arrived at the infirmary, where Lucas was curled up in Sophia's arms getting an IV. "David, you're here." Sophia stood up and came toward him. David touched Lucas' forehead. At the sight of the pup looking so miserable, his heart ached. "How did he suddenly get a fever?" She sighed and explained, "Maybe he got worn out from the sports competition today." He nodded and sat by the bed to watch over Lucas. In his mind, the look in Joseph's eyes when he left flashed. It filled David with an odd sense of unease.
He thought about pulling out his phone to ask Joseph whether he was willing to give Lucas his winning spot. It was then that he saw my message. After reading it, his face fell instantly, thinking I was just throwing a tantrum. He called my number, wanting to talk it out, but all he heard was the cold, mechanical busy tone. He frowned and dialed again and again, only to achieve the same result. He set his phone down as a sudden, ominous feeling washed over him. "David, Lucas is feeling much better now.

He says he wants to go to that new restaurant for dinner tomorrow." Sophia's voice shattered David's thoughts. David, in a panic, was in no mood for restaurants. Standing up, he replied in a cold voice, "I need to head home for a bit. You two continue without me." With that, he left the infirmary without looking back. When he got home, he opened the door and called out loudly for me and Joseph, but the only response was the empty echo of the house. He walked into our room and saw that our clothes and belongings were still there, and that made him relax a little.
Back in the living room, he dropped onto the couch, feeling frustrated. He had thought I'd finally learned to behave and stop making trouble, but apparently, it was just another game of keeping him at arm's length. David grabbed his car keys and went straight to pick up Sophia and Lucas. Lucas' face brightened when he saw him, running over proudly to wrap his arms around him. "I knew you'd come, Dad!" "David, let's go. This place is really good." Sophia waved him over. David sat down, though his mind was clearly elsewhere. He kept picking up his phone, but my message never came.
Noticing something was off, she asked with concern, "David, what's wrong? Is something bothering you?" He shook his head and forced a smile. "It's nothing. Maybe work's getting to me lately.". After dinner, David hurried back home. He opened the door to find the house still quiet as ever. I hadn't come back. He grew irritated, picked up his phone, and sent me a message. "Vivian, have you had enough? Keep this up and don't blame me 1/2 for breaking our bond!" The message went out, but it was like dropping a stone into the ocean. I never replied. His patience snapped.
He angrily called one of his men and ordered them to find me. "Vivian is getting more and more out of line! She's jealous and manipulative! How could a she-wolf like that be worthy of being Luna?" His man returned quickly, but with news that left him stunned. "Alpha, we couldn't find Ms. Lloyd. We also discovered that you and Ms. Lloyd had already broken your bond a long time ago." "What?" His eyes widened, unable to believe what he was hearing. That was when he realized I wasn't playing games this time. I had truly left him.
