His pack loyalty warring with the implicit loyalty he feels toward his mate.

"And you?" Elara keeps her tone harsh, but she squats in front of the mousy-looking girl, getting on her eye level. Where Drake looks rough, like he's spent the better part of a week outside, this girl looks malnourished and sickly. She has been taught to fear our kind, that much is obvious.
