Chapter 25 -BEA- 090 Shed hurried along the road back to the castle .
There were areas that were heavily wooded and she was happy she wouldnt be coming back this way anytime soon .
The sack full of medicines and tea was not heavy at first but by the time shed made it back to the castle , her arms were shaking .
Thankfully David was nowhere in sight when shed finally made it back to Daxs quarters .
Shed been worried her entire trek back that something terrible had happened and shed walk back into the room and hed be dead but she saw his chest rise and fall .
He had his eyes closed so she assumed he was sleeping .
Not wanting to wake him , she moved into her small side room that theyd set up for her .
It was considerably smaller than the room she was staying in previously but somehow felt more comfortable .
It was no bigger than the large closet that was attached to her previous chambers .
There was a small bed with a brown comforter and a pretty little sitting area .

One small window was on the far wall and the afternoon light shown through brightly .
She set the now ridiculously heavy sack down on her bed and slumped down beside it .
Ooooof .
Suddenly she felt light headed and short of breath .
Which meant shed gone too long without eating and had overworked her too thin body .
She stared up at the ceiling and rafters that lined it .
Viscas estate was large but only the large ball room had wooden rafters .
She wondered briefly if they Jwere were expensive .
Shed never taken the time to research that type of thing .
The little moments she did find for herself she always gravitated more towards flowers , teas , and remedies .
She was thankful now for that decision .

Speaking of coin, shed used just about all of her savings at the market .
Over the years , shed scrounged up a small bundle of coins from odd jobs .
She didnt know what she thought she might use it for but it felt nice to do something .
However , she didnt want David knowing about any of the medicine and items shed bought .
While she DID have say over things in the household income , everything still fell to her Steward .
It would be expected of her to coninue using him and allow things to be run through him .
Even if the last thing he said to her still made her shiver .

Another shiver ran up her spine and she couldnt stop her immediate reaction as the rest of her trembled .
Fighting off the goosebumps , she stood back up and began putting away the medicine and herbs before quietly moving past Dax and to the kitchen to make his lunch .
Shed purchased an herb that had similar purple petals to the Wolfsbane and brought some of them with her to put in his porridge .

She expected Dax to talk with her some more .
She waited all through lunch for him to ask what happened while in town or perhaps what all happened with David .
Then , as she cleaned things up around his chambers and her new room , he still stayed silent .
Only occasionally whispering something to himself before looking away and going silent once again .
She cooked up one of the thick mushrooms shed bought with some bone broth and more leafy greens .
Dax ate it like hed really enjoyed it but still , all he said to her was thank you and good night .
So Ill know where you are .
She flinched as his words from earlier echoed in her ears .
He truly didnt trust her .
Hed called her his wife but how could she have allowed herself to think there was any trust or desire there .
