This bridge chapter connects the chaos of the bathroom and the "Boss" speech to the final moment where they all settle into bed. It focuses on the intimate, quiet tension of the three men caring for her while navigating their own feelings for her.

Chapter 1.5: The Eye of the Storm

The hum of the hairdryer filled the room, a steady, warm vibration that made Juniper’s head loll forward. Phineas worked with surprising gentleness, his large hands maneuvering the dryer while his fingers combed through her damp strands. He acted every bit the "boss" he claimed to be, directing Adil and Beni with simple tilts of his head.

Beni emerged from the closet, now dressed in clean sweats. He looked at the scene—Phineas focused on her hair and Adil sitting at the foot of the bed, watching Juniper with an intensity that could melt iron.

"The boss, huh?" Beni murmured, leaning against the dresser. "You forgot to mention the time in college when 'the boss' decided we should skip finals for a road trip and nearly got us all expelled."

"It was an educational retreat," Phineas countered over the roar of the dryer. "And we all got A's anyway."

Adil reached out, his fingers tracing the hem of Juniper’s borrowed shorts. "He’s only the boss because we let him think he is, baby girl. It keeps him from pouting."

Juniper giggled, the sound muffled by her hair falling over her face. "You guys are like a pack of wolves. But... nice wolves."

"We’re whatever you need us to be," Beni said, his voice dropping the teasing edge. He walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder, his thumb rubbing small circles against her skin. The heat of his palm felt like an anchor. "If you need us to be nice, we’re nice. If you need us to be the ones who keep the world away while you heal, we’re that, too."

Phineas finally clicked the dryer off. The sudden silence in the room felt heavy, charged with things left unsaid. He set the dryer on the nightstand and turned Juniper around to face them. Her hair was a soft, dark halo around her face, her eyes still slightly glazed from the remnants of the night’s trauma and the alcohol.

"Better?" Phineas asked.

"Soft," she whispered, touching her own hair. She looked at the three of them—the 'Boss,' the 'Scientist,' and the 'Rule-maker.' "I don't know why you're doing this. I'm a mess. I'm literally 'empty,' remember?"

Adil stood up, stepping into her personal space. He took her hands in his, his tattoos stark against her pale skin. "You aren't empty, Juniper. You’re just starting over. And this time, you aren't doing it with a coward like Kyst."

"He’s right," Beni added, moving to her other side. "We’ve spent our whole lives building a world for the three of us. We didn't realize there was a seat at the table waiting for you until we saw you."

Juniper felt a lump form in her throat. The grief for the baby was still there, a dull ache in her lower back and heart, but the crushing loneliness that had defined her marriage was evaporating.

Phineas cleared his throat, breaking the emotional spell with a smirk. "Alright, enough sentiment. My chest is waiting, the bed is too small, and I’m fairly certain Adil is going to kick me in his sleep. Beni, get the lights. Juniper, center stage."

She let them lead her under the covers, the cool sheets a stark contrast to the radiating heat of the three men surrounding her.
