---- Chapter 8 (Dominic's POV) "It's a setup! It's Evelyn's conspiracy!" Chloe shrieked in a last, desperate attempt. "She's a rogue! This evidence means nothing!" Dominic watched her, his face a cold mask, and pressed the remote again. "Then what about this?" The screen played another clip. This time, it was an audio recording from outside the confinement room. Chloe's voice came through, sharp and clear. "...Turn the temperature down to its lowest setting. No water, no medicine... I want her to die slowly, in fear and pain.

Once it's done, these gold bars are yours." The guard's hesitant voice followed. "But... she's the Alpha's mate's family..." Chloe laughed, her voice dripping with contempt. "Not for long. She's just some old woman. The Alpha won't hold it against me. I'ma pure-blood. My family is the ally the Silvermoon pack needs. Is Dominic really going to turn on me for something so small?" ---- Her words ignited the fury of every wolf in the hall.

Her callousness drew gasps not only from the high-borns, but from the many Omegas in attendance and the visiting Alphas who valued pack unity above pure-blood arrogance. Chloe's utter disregard for life had crossed a line for everyone. Seeing the contempt in their eyes, Chloe finally broke. " So what if it's true!" she screamed, all pretense gone. "We grew up together! You liked me too! Why should I give up the Luna title to her? I'm a thousand times more noble than Evelyn.

Are you really going to abandon me for her and that old hag?" There was only hatred in Dominic's eyes as he looked at her. "You're wrong. I love Evelyn. She is my fated mate. I was only tolerating you to secure an alliance with your family. Chloe froze, staring at him in disbelief. He looked down at her crumpled form on the floor, his voice firm. "And you didn't just kill an innocent old woman." ---- "She was the only family of the mate I swore my life to protect." He wasn't finished. Dominic threw a stack of photos at her face.

They were of Chloe during her time abroad, cavorting with rogue wolves. In the pictures, she was draped over them, her expression one of hedonistic pleasure. Rogues were outcasts, seen as filth by organized packs. "You seduced several rogues at once, made them fight over you. When things went bad, they came after you, and you ran back here to hide." Every word from Dominic was a blade, tearing away Chloe's last shreds of dignity. "My only regret is not seeing you for what you truly are sooner." "Are Evelyn and her grandmother still so lowly in your eyes?" The truth was out.

Chloe's father, his face pale with fury and shame, rose to his feet. "She is no longer my daughter," he declared, his voice ringing with finality. No matter how powerful his family was, they still lived ---- under the protection of the Silvermoon pack. Amid the scornful glares of the crowd and the elders' verdict-"Stripped of her status and permanently exiled" -the once-proud Chloe was dragged away by the guards like a stray dog. "Dominic! You were my accomplice! I curse you! You will never find her!

You will be abandoned by her for the rest of your life!" her crazed screams echoed through the hall. Her curse washed over him, but he paid it no mind. He didn't even spare her another glance. He simply turned and walked out of the grand hall-the hall that was meant for his mate-now a monument to his own bitter irony. He had to find Evelyn.
