Chapter 114: Laurel, what's wrong?" Maliyah reached out to help me up. Her tone was filled with worry. I sat up straight, rubbing my throbbing temples. I waved my hand and said, "I'm fine. Maybe I slept too late last night."
"I'm a little dizzy," Maliyah looked at me worriedly. "Laurel, go back to sleep. I'll wake you up for lunch."
I hesitated, then finally nodded. I was a little lazy after breakfast and wanted to find more clues. There was no hurry now. Since I had a suspect, I needed to investigate properly. However, the thought of Alex possibly being Vivian's murderer unsettled me.
I pondered, "Has he been sending people to follow me all this time, so he knows about Maliyah? What if it is Alex who did it? Moreover, why would he do it? Is it revenge against me? Is he afraid I will implicate him when seeking revenge, leading to unexpected outcomes?"
Lost in these troubling thoughts, I returned to my room. Connecting everything to Alex felt overwhelming, and a sense of fear crept in. If Alex was indeed behind it and I angered him, could he orchestrate an accident to eliminate me discreetly? The idea made me shudder.
I lay down on the bed in the master bedroom, fearing Maliyah would notice if I slept in the second bedroom. I texted Angela that I needed rest and would catch up with her later. Moments later, Angela sent a mischievous message along with a teasing picture.

Angela: "Looks like your husband came back last night. Wouldn't that drive Miss Harvey crazy?"
Angela: "You're living in a bubble of bliss and don't even realize it. Hurry up and catch up on your sleep. You still have to serve Alex well tonight."
Reading Angela's playful messages, I could almost see her smiling face through the screen. Disinterested, I turned off my phone and closed my eyes. Exhausted, I slept until late morning.
Upon waking, I discovered several missed calls, one of them from Alex. After some hesitation, I called him back.
The phone rang briefly before Samantha answered. She informed me that Alex was in a meeting and wouldn't be available to talk. I sensed a hidden message in her words. Perhaps Alex was avoiding me deliberately.
Samantha hinted that Alex might not return home that day and suggested I keep the house in Honeydew Estate as compensation. With a forced smile, I accepted her offer and ended the call.
I swiftly prepared myself, deciding to visit Alex's temporary office at Skyline Tower, not far from Honeydew Estate. Despite the city's traffic, I managed to reach the tower on a small electric scooter. Upon arrival, I encountered a disdainful receptionist who inquired about my purpose.
"I'm here to collect a debt from Mr. Herrera," I replied, causing the receptionist's demeanor to shift. Despite her skepticism, I stood my ground, insisting on meeting Alex.
As I awaited further assistance, Samantha unexpectedly emerged from the building. Her presence exuded elegance, but her eyes hinted at hidden intentions. She questioned my presence, her tone laced with unease.
Unfazed, I confronted Samantha about the house transfer, causing her demeanor to waver. She attempted to dismiss me, but I stood firm, ready to settle matters that afternoon. Samantha's mocking smile only fueled my determination.
As she whispered taunts, I maintained my composure, ready to confront whatever challenges lay ahead.
