Roxy glared accusingly at Ashton. Meanwhile, Calvin's eyes brightened as he quickly said, "Ashton, you and Roxy already signed the divorce papers. It's best if you keep your distance. "Roxy will never change her mind about you, and she definitely won't get jealous just because she sees you with another woman. Your little scheme is bound to fail! All it does is make you look more like a clown." "Let's go inside," Ashton said to Sylvia, not wanting to waste even a single breath on the other two. "Sure," Sylvia replied with a dazzling smile.

The moment they stepped into the bar, Sylvia's stunning beauty immediately drew a wave of interest. She got them a booth table and ordered several strong cocktails before sliding into the seat right beside Ashton. She had her own ulterior motives, of course. If Ashton got drunk tonight, sparks could fly, and who knew what might happen between them? She didn't mind making him the first man she ever slept with. In fact, she'd been waiting for years for a chance to be with him. On that rainy night when Ashton saved her, he'd taken hold of her heart.

There was no longer any room in there for another man. "What do you plan to do now, Ashton? If you want, I can transfer all of my company shares to you," Sylvia said earnestly before parting her red lips to down a glass of cocktail. After all, life was short and meant to be enjoyed to the fullest. She was simply too happy tonight. "You don't need to do that. You don't owe me anything," Ashton replied. He only took a small sip of his drink. He wasn't one to indulge in booze, and right now, his mood was quite melancholic. But soon, the melancholy shifted into a sense of quiet relief.

Something had escaped Ashton's notice. The moment his mindset changed, the bottleneck he'd encountered in his martial arts practice suddenly loosened. Meanwhile, Sylvia's eyes flashed with sadness. "Are you still in love with Roxy, Ashton? To be honest, with what you're capable of, it's fairly easy for you to win her back. If you need anything... I can help you," she said softly. It went without saying she didn't want Ashton to get back together with Roxy. However, if that made him happy, she would support him without hesitation as well.

"In my life, I've only ever fallen for someone once, but all of my feelings have been squandered. It's completely over between Roxy and me," Ashton said. "Really? What if Roxy regrets this decision later on and begs you to return to her?" Sylvia asked, her gaze intense. "One should always look ahead. It's never wise to revisit past mistakes. Roxy and I will never get back together. Besides... I intend to destroy everything she has," Ashton said darkly. "Then, I'll help you as best I can! I always knew you were the one supporting her business empire in the shadows.

Without you, she couldn't have accomplished all of her current success with those simplistic methods and limited abilities of hers. "Now that she no longer has you to back her up, it won't be long before her business empire collapses!" Meanwhile, on the other side of the bar, Roxy and Calvin sat in their own booth, though they sat separated with enough space to fit one more person between them. Calvin had ordered a round of strong drinks as well.

He was all geared up to pour his heart out about the years he'd spent pining for her, only to realize her eyes kept drifting toward Ashton and never straying far from him. She only snapped back to reality after he'd called her several times, but her expression was sour. It was obvious she was jealous! But hadn't she divorced Ashton to be with him? Calvin forced a smile. "Come, Roxy. Let's share a toast. Cheers to you escaping a life of misery! And let us celebrate that we've finally found each other again after so many years.

I want to thank fate for not letting us miss out on each other." Roxy's expression stayed impassive as she said quietly, "Life with Ashton wasn't exactly misery. We just weren't right for each other. It's a peaceful breakup." What was Calvin supposed to say to that? His face twitched a little before he forced out a meager laugh. "You're absolutely right, Roxy. Well, cheers!" "I'll skip the booze. I still need to drive back later." "We can just get a cab later! We don't always get to celebrate a night like this, and it's two celebrations in one!

We don't have to get drunk, but we should still enjoy a few drinks!" Roxy hesitated for a moment before nodding. As it was, she didn't know what was up with her either. Shouldn't she be happy that she was divorcing Ashton and welcoming Calvin back into her life? Yet, when she saw Ashton and Sylvia chatting and flirting with each other, she felt uncomfortable about it. Roxy was certain she had no feelings for Ashton, so why was she feeling this way? Was it because she was only now realizing how precious something was to her when she'd lost it? That was impossible!

Roxy scoffed at the thought of that. Even if she didn't end up with Calvin, she wouldn't stay with Ashton either. Their marriage was long dead. She cared nothing for Ashton's endless doting and devotion. What she wanted was a powerful and influential man who attracted followers wherever he went! Ashton was nothing but a relic of the past. He was a washed-up thug from the criminal underworld, the very type of man she had the most contempt for. At that moment, Moe Baker, a blond man in ripped jeans, swaggered over. He stared intently at Roxy and asked in a sleazy voice, "Hey, gorgeous.

Can I get your number?" Roxy raised a brow, but before she could speak, Calvin shot to his feet. He'd been waiting for his chance to prove himself in front of her. Without saying a word, he slapped Moe right across the face. Caught off guard, Moe stumbled backward and felt his cheek smarting in pain. Calvin stood tall with a haughty expression. He jabbed his finger at Moe and snapped, "Where the hell did you come from, you lowlife? Get the hell out of here!" In his mind, he was convinced he looked like a tough and brave hero right about now.

Who knew how many young women's hearts were palpitating because of him? Perhaps he could rely on his heroic gesture to get Roxy to willingly offer herself up in bed to him! Calvin was fully determined to take Roxy for himself. At the same time, he kept a gentlemanly smile on his face and glanced over at Sylvia. He wanted to let Sylvia see clearly for herself that he was far better than Ashton. "How dare you hit me?" Moe snarled, his veins popping as he glared at Calvin in fury.

Frightened by the murderous look in Moe's eyes, Calvin subconsciously took a few steps back, but he quickly steadied himself and fired back icily, "So what if I hit you? Do you know who you've disrespected today? My family owns Emerson Group, and this beautiful lady here is the CEO of Summit Group!" His tone was arrogant as he added, "You should be honored that I lifted a hand against you!" "That's enough, Calvin!" Roxy shook her head at him, not wanting to stir up any trouble. "Emerson Group and Summit Group, you say? Alright, then. Just you wait!" Moe snarled.

He shot the two of them a vengeful glower before rushing off. "Is he leaving already? Guess he just needed to be taught a lesson! Don't worry, Roxy. As long as I'm here, I'll protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you," Calvin promised gently. Roxy nodded at him, but she couldn't stop herself from glancing at Ashton out of the corner of her eye. The moment Moe had approached her, she had secretly watched for Ashton's reaction. Much to her disappointment, he hadn't reacted at all. He didn't even look in her direction. For some reason, his cold indifference infuriated Roxy.

To think that he'd become this heartless just because they were divorcing! She'd truly made a mistake by marrying him back then! Her gaze softened as she turned back to Calvin. "Maybe we should go, Calvin. That guy didn't seem like the type to just let things go. You've only just come back to Javonbury. You're not familiar with the power dynamics here yet." Calvin shook his head firmly. "Don't worry, Roxy. With me here, nothing will happen.

I just came back, and I've got too much I want to say to you." "But Ashton once said that the people behind this bar cannot be underestimated..." "Ashton again? You and Ashton are getting a divorce, Roxy! What does a thug like him know anyway? Considering who we are, why should we be afraid of some lowlife?" Calvin practically roared in displeasure.
