---- Chapter 11 As I looked at Ethan's desperate attempt to compromise just to keep me, I felt a pang of heartache mixed with a touch of amusement. I pulled out my burner phone and the cologne-scented shirt and tossed them at him. "Here," I said. "Meet your rival." Ethan caught the shirt, looking bewildered. "This size... It's mine?" He looked up sharply, glancing from the burner phone to the shirt. His brain seemed to have short-circuited. "There is no other man." I sighed, poking a finger into his rock-hard chest. "The shirt was a belated birthday present, and the cologne was just a sample.
It's a very 'manly' scent, don't you think? I sent the texts myself, and the photo is staged. Ethan, from the very beginning, it's only ever been you." As the truth sank in, Ethan's face was a masterpiece of conflicting emotions. Shock, confusion, and pure joy flickered across his features before finally settling into fury. "So..." He leaned in dangerously close, narrowing his eyes. "To get me to break our bond, you were willing to drag your own reputation through the mud? You let me drive myself crazy with jealousy over a piece of clothing?" "It's your own fault for being so tight-lipped!

You held it in for three whole years without saying a word!" I retorted, completely unapologetic. ---- Ethan let out a dry, frustrated laugh. He put on the wrinkled shirt as if it were the finest suit of armor. "Does it smell good?" I teased, asking about my 'secret lover's" scent. "It smells perfect." He buried his face in the crook of my neck and took a deep breath. "It smells exactly like you playing me for a fool. Ereya, you're seriously... begging for a lesson." With that, he kissed me again. This time, there were no drugs, no misunderstandings, and no more holding back.
It was just two hearts finally finding their way to each other and a passion that ignited like dry wood meeting a roaring flame. 'The vibration of my phone broke the mounting tension. It was a message from Nora. Instinct told me it was important. 1 reached for my phone. "Freya, I wanted to tell you this when you came to the West Tower. Even though the fated bond made me waver, Reynold is the one I love. So, you don't have to give Ethan to me, and you don't have to feel guilty anymore. It's so obvious that he loves you." The weight that had been crushing my chest finally vanished.
Nora had chosen her true love, and I could finally hold onto Ethan without a shred of guilt. "Who is it?" Annoyed that I was smiling at my screen, he nipped at my collarbone. "You're seriously distracted right now?" A mischievous thought struck me. "Oh... just a guy I've been talking to." T arched an eyebrow and traced circles on his chest. "He says he's ---- losing sleep thinking about me. He wants to knowif he has a chance." Ethan's expression went dark instantly, Even though he knew the " secret lover" was a fake, he knew I had plenty of real suitors, so he believed my words.
"A guy you're talking to?" He sneered, snatched the phone from my hand, and tossed it onto the carpet. When I tried to reach for it, he pinned my hands above my head, locking me firmly beneath him. His eyes bled into a predatory crimson, glowing with a hunger that threatened to devour me whole. "Tell this guy he's out of luck. Tonight, even if your fated mate stepped through that door, you'd still be mine. I'm going to make sure you don't have the energy to think about anyone else." He ripped open his shirt with a violent tug. Buttons scattered across the floor.
My belated birthday gift to him was torn to shreds, reduced to the most suggestive of shapes. But he had received a much better gift-all of me.
