Chapter 11 Chapter 11 Declan's POV ·· Intel COR PRO "This is a hospital! Keep it down! The patient's coming out!" The crushing feeling suddenly lifted, and the hallway went quiet. A few minutes later, the surgery doors opened, and doctors wheeled out a bed. Cassia was lying there with her eyes closed, an oxygen mask over her face, looking white as a sheet. Everyone crowded around as the doctor spoke through his surgical mask. "The patient just had a baby recently and got pregnant again too soon. Her body's really weak, and she needs three months of complete bed rest with no stress.
If she loses this baby too, it'll be way harder for her to get pregnant again." The Elders hung on every word the doctor said. When he finished, they looked crushed. As the doctor left, they followed him to his office to ask about medications and treatment. The empty hallway was suddenly just me alone. I snapped back to reality. 'Nora! I have to find her!' I started heading toward the exit. But then Gideon's guards stepped right in my way. "Alpha, you should go see your Luna first." "Move," I said coldly, not budging as I stared the guy down. The guard stayed put, his voice firm.
"Sorry, Alpha, but if you won't go on your own, we'll have to make you. She's carrying your kid. Even if you won't see her, at least see your child." I stopped for a second. The guard was right. Even though I couldn't stand Cassia, she was still having my kid-a child with my blood. Soon, I was at Cassia's hospital room, and just as the guard was about to knock, I heard voices from inside. "Mom, your fake miscarriage plan was perfect. It totally worked to keep Declan here again." It was Cassia, but her voice was cold and calculating. I'd never heard her talk like that before.

Every word was sharp as ice. "Do you think if I make the kids have little accidents now and then, Declan will eventually stay for good because he's worried about them?" That last sentence hit me like poison, sinking deep into my nerves. My whole body went stiff. Blood rushed to my head, then everything went cold. Ice-cold fear shot up from my feet, crawling up my spine and numbing my fingers while breaking something I'd always believed. The guard quickly stepped back from me, not wanting to get involved. Then Lavinia's smug voice came from inside. "Of course. Have you forgotten who I am?
Nora's gone, but these tricks will still keep Declan wrapped around your finger." 11:32 You Want Me Back? 2.50% Chapter 11 My eye twitched hard. "But don't go too far. They're your kids too. With Ayla, just give her a little fever and make her cry. Never poison her or hurt her badly again. She's still your child. And the one you're carrying-don't take too many risks with this one either." "Don't worry, Mom, I know what I'm doing. But I already promised Declan I'd let him leave after we had our ceremony.
Even though I managed to keep him here for now with this fake miscarriage, what about later? Declan will still want to find Nora eventually. What do I do then?" "Relax, I already worked it out with Elder Gideon. We sent her far, far away where she'll never come back. We'll never let Declan leave again. Just focus on your pregnancy, and once this baby's born, all the Vale family's money will belong to you and your kids." My eyes went dark, and veins popped out on my hands as I gripped the doorframe. So that was it.
All this time, I thought all the problems Ayla kept having were because of Nora. It was actually Cassia and her mother. They did it themselves. Those pale, sick faces when Ayla got hurt, those shaky nights when she curled up in my arms looking for comfort, those crazy moments when Nora got beaten up over Ayla's condition. All those nights when I left the woman I loved, letting Nora get punished over and over, while I sat by Cassia's or Ayla's bedside, holding their hands and listening to Cassia cry and the kid whimper. Back then, those moments had torn my heart apart.
But every single moment and all that crushing pain had been part of their plan. Everything went silent. The sharp hospital smell disappeared, and the distant sounds from the nurses' station vanished, leaving only the loud rush of blood in my ears. My stomach twisted violently, and a metallic taste filled my mouth, though I swallowed it back down. "Declan, why are you just standing there? Why haven't you gone in?"
